Need Help,DX7 and Phoenix RC.

I need your help fellas,I've been browsing through here to see if I could find the answers, but nope.
I just got a DX7 and a copy of phoenix rc sim, after installation and updating,I went through the calibration process and everything seemeed fine until I try to fly a heli(trex 600) only to find out that, the controls are too sensitive and the throttle on the DX7 has to be moved all the way to the middle before the heli starts and lift off all the way into the sky... .The heli does not move up slowly.
Its almost impossible to hover.I know things haven't been set up properly(I'm a noob),that why I need you guys help to configure the DX7 properly to use with my phoenix rc.Thanks all.

Re: Need Help,DX7 and Phoenix RC.

Channel 1 is aileron
channel 2 is elevator
channel 3 is throttle/power
channel 4 is rudder/tail
channel 5..gyro gain..I would think
channel 6 is collective.

Now...I dont know the DX7 at all....but if its like my Futaba T7CP/FF7 then phoenix doesnt like eccpm setup...it likes the conventional ccpm setup....but it sounds like you dont have that problem.

You might have got the throttle and collective channels mixed up...that might explain the throttle going to halfway etc.

Take your time setting up...its a good idea to allocate a model memory on the radio just for the simulator...I use memory 1 for my gasser...memory 2 for my mini electric heli and so on.

Take the time to read the instruction book for the DX7...it sounds a great radio system...certainly more secure than the 35/72 mhz stuff.

Re: Need Help,DX7 and Phoenix RC.

Hi there, thats good...glad to hear that.

Sims are a useful tool....keep learning on it...the secret is to get as good as you can....being able to hold a hover is the most crucial thing. Forget flying like an ace straightaway....master the basics first.

In reality...just take it easy....its one thing to do some move on a sim and feel confident...reality will see you feeling nervous...and prone to making a mistake.

My rule is....if you feel nervous then keep the routine till you feel confident...then push the limits a bit...just a bit at a time.

Never skimp on looking after your heli...pre flight or after flight...use your eyes to check that all is well...check tighten everything...but not too tight.

I like Phoenix...Reflex XTR is good but Phoenix has everything I need to experiment.
Sims are good because you can practice emergency situations without trashing a real model...your actions will become second nature...which is a big difference if faced with a bag of bits or a heli thats slightly damaged.
