No signal in picjoy - spektrum dx7

I've been trying to get my dx7 to work with realflight. At this point I'm not sure it's worth it. I've set up everything according to the instructions but when I start picjoy it does not see my tx. If I go into the control panel under gamepads I find ppm and ppjoy. if I select ppm and click properties I can see the bars move up and down when I move the controls on the tx but picjoy doesn't see it. Any advice is appreciated.
