Noob Alert, help me set my radio up with XTR!

Hi guys..

I have a Futaba 4 channel skysport (T4YF)

Im VERY noobie at this sort of thing, and XTR is asking me to set up the following.

Tailer Rotor
Elevator
Aileron
Pitch
Autoration
Gyro Sensibility.

It asks me to push my levers in different positions for each setting, but I do not know what "knob" does what. hahaha.

Help out a 32yr old noob and tell me what I need to do! thanks guys!!

I have a 4 channel skysport....its very basic and fine for airplanes....it will handle a simulator....or rather a simulator should accomodate a basic radio.

The collective pitch and throttle can be assigned to the one stick..usually the left side....you have to go into the setup for the radio system and assign the channels....the gyro could be set to a default setting....I am sure this sim will have a choice of radio setups....like a proper radio thats meant for heli through to the more basic radios like yours....I was using a skysport 6 on XTR and it worked well enough....it just didnt have some features that you would expect on a radio that can handle what a typical helicopter needs.

Its a case of playing about with the settings....the right stick back and forth should be the elevator....right stick left and right should be aileron

Left stick should be : back and forth....collective...channel 6 I think...and throttle...channel 3 I reckon....left and right should be the rudder function.

Gyro? I have not messed about with this as the models all flew ok....doubtless that a proper radio would release more potential.

Re: Noob Alert, help me set my radio up with XTR!

The channel settings for your radio in the reflex are as follows,

first start the simulator up and then go to the radio tab, then go to assign channels.

Now you will see the channels and the various functions that you can asign to them.
for channel 1 asign aileron, channel 2 asign elevator, channel 3 asign throttle, channel 4 asign rudder.
You have possibly got a landing gear channel on your radio, if you have try and asign channel 5 as both landing gear and gyro sensativity.

you should set both the aircraft and heli channels as above. This should help you get going. If you find that the function is reversed, all you need to do is find the channel that needs to be reversed then if you look where you set the functions at the end of each colomn there is a plus. just click it and it will change to a minus. job done, it should now work.

Actually you can set up..throttle and collective to both be assigned to channel 3...beacuase on the basic airplane radio, channel 3 is throttle.

Good to hear its working though....with a heli type radio you will have more functions at your fingertips....but get into the flying first of all....worry about the finer points later on.
