| Reflex XTR with 4 channel radio I use a Reflex XTR with my 4 channel Futaba to fly airplanes. Now I wish to practice flying helicopters in the XTR. I have been told that you need a 6 channel radio to fly helis. I would like to know if I can use my existing 4 channel Futaba radio to practice flying helis in the XTR. I do not want to buy a 6 or 7 channel radio or heli before I get the hang of it in a flight sim. I am a complete newbie in helis. Can somebody tell me how? |

| Re: Reflex XTR with 4 channel radio You can assign channel 3 (I think its channel three...throttle?) and channel 6 to the same stick....be prepared to muck about a bit setting this up but it does work...I have done this before...and have done it again with my latest sim called 'Phoenix' which works just fine. | Re: Reflex XTR with 4 channel radio Thanks Hawkman, for the prompt response. Unfortunately I am a total newbie with R/c helis and dont know much. I would appreciate it if you could guide me for the same. I have a 4 ch Futaba and the Reflex XTR & am using Mode 2. I understand that the right stick is used to set the aileron & elevator. The left stick I believe is used for rudder on one axix and throttle & pitch control on the other axis. The rudder is not a problem. How do I set the throttle & pitch control mix on the other axis. Is the throttle set automatically in the Reflex? Does it mean that when I push the left stick up the RPM will increase & the heli will rise? Its very confusing for me. Hope I have been able to explain my problem to you? Hope to hear from you soon. Raphel |

| Re: Reflex XTR with 4 channel radio Go to the setup panel...and look for the channel assign feature....now select channel 3 for throttle....and channel 3 for pitch I think thats how it works.....it can be done becuase I was using a 6 channel aero radio on my computer...this radio had no two channel/one stick operation. You might need to spend some time messing about but you will get it. So...assign throttle and pitch to the one stick. When you push the left stick up the throttle should increase in power and the pitch for the main rotor will increase.....the simulator is more or less setup so the heli will fly ok. You might need to reverse functions....there will be boxes to tick on the sim to do this.....I am afraid you will have to be patient....and take your time but you will get it. Rob |
