Pre-Flight simulator

Hi tbone,

From your posting in another thread on this board

"Another cool free sim is PRE-Flight http://www.preflightsim.com/
it looks cool and its feels more realistic then FMS, if you want to attach your tx you need to buy some do-it-yourself-kit pcb with some components, costs around 25$"

I downloaded it - impressive too!

You're right - the helicopter physics are different, I need to hook it up to the transmitter to see if it "feels" the same as in real-life, but from what I saw it looks realistic.

Had some problems getting it to run in 1024x768x32 mode, keeps crashing out, but heck I'll figure it out.

Thank you again.

Hi All,

I have interfaced pre-flight and everthing works fine with the exception of all Heli simulation. The problem is I can't get the Heli airborne. Have you had similar problems ??

Ari

No, for me it works perfectly. Maybe some of your pitch/throttle assignations are wrong ?

Hi tbone,

thank you for your reply. I purchased the interface from pre-flight and connected this to my Eclipse 7. However, thus far I have only managed to have the Heli tumble out of control arround the sky.
I think I will prevail at the end.

Incidentally, I just purchased my first Heli a JR Venture CP. I must confess it is very much a challenge to set up the mechanical and electronic components. It is especially challenging if there are no peers or experienced pilots available to provide guidance.

Hence, my haunting of sites like this one.

Again, thank you for taking the time to respond to my question.

Regards from Down Under
Ari

So the simulator's pretty accurate to flying model helicopters in real life then :-P

Hi Darren_UK,

point taken :-). However, after trotting out my JR Venture for the first time, I maintain my Heli is easier to fly then my badly configured simulator.

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to practice on a CSM simulator(V10). Works well indeed.

As indicated,I had my first hovering flights over the weekend at our club field, my Heli is the first in our club and as such created much interest amongst our members. Probably all expecting for some catastrophic event to unfold.

After bunny hopping around terra firma, I started hovering and found it challenging close to the ground and wonderfully smooth at 3 to 10 feet.

My club mates were very much impressed and comments like " if Ari can do it, it can't be hard to do" were common. The short of the story is, that the Hobby Shop owner and 3 other people immediately ordered the JR Venture CP.

Regards
Ari
