I'm trying to learn how to get a controlled basic hover in the Real Flight Sim so that I can transfer that knowledge into my Raptor. My problem is that when I lift off the ground I can somewhat control the heli and then it starts moving fairly fast away from me. I would like to be able to hover the heli stable right in front of me so I am in control of the heli at all times. Is this a realistic goal. I'm really struggling with this and second guessing my purchase. HELP! Thanks, Phil

Is the heli you're using in the simulator calibrated and trimmed? Make sure the software and everything is set up correctly, and it will make hovering easier. You might want to run through the hovering tutorial. If your heli doesn't do what the instructors does with similar stick inputs, then you may have to read through the real flight manual to find your problem.

Thanks I'll give that a try. You would think the controller would be calibrated already since it's the Sims own controller. Anyway, I'll give it a shot and see what happens

The best thing i can advise i would not bother with the simulator Nothing beats having ur heli out there getting a feel for it. But to any new pilot get ur heli professionaly set up ( U WILL NOT GET IT RIGHT TRUST ME ) thats what i did 2 litters of fuel latter and im very comfortabley hovering at most heights and took my training legs off for the last tank of the day good luck ![]()

hi all, i think i agree with kyle - have bought 2 x sim interface cables & recieived free software (which works on keyboards) ie no prob's with software but feel have wasted $$s otherwise- i give up & will persist with the real thing & pay for any damage- at least then it's my fault for the loss of bucks. sims were preflight & FMS. regards, godnre - I will get there yet??

when learning to hover i di the same thing the heli starts going away real quick. what is happening is your probably overcompensating and moving the levers to far. you would be amazed at how little you move the levers when hovering, and don,t worry you will get the hang of it i had tail in hovering down great but when i tried nose in it would drift real fast.i finally bought the g2 flight sim and i love it very realistic and has saved me at least two times. also i did set my own heli up because i could not find anyone where i live and did not have too much problems, just some trial and error rich.l

Calibrate it, I have to agree with Andrew, Your probably not calibrated right and if you are then your probably over compensating. If your finding it tough then lower the sensativity on the controler sticks and slow the sim speed down till you have the hang of it then you can speed up gradualy. The sim has saved me ?100's pos ?1000's of pounds, If like me your in an area with no one to help you it is the correct way to go. Read my personal web page. I tried the hard lesson first and lost a fortune. Stick with it, It will save you money and keep you wanting to continue with this hobby. A few learning crashes had me wondering if it was worth the cost, I almost gave in myself. Don't give up on the sim it will help you. Stick at it, Regards Daz,
