Damn Im Cheap!

as the title says, im a bit of a cheap ***. if i can do something myself or adapt something i have to suit i will most likely do it

i needed a power suply for my rc charger. i went and modified a computer PSU to suit.

and just tonight i strike again. i wanted to get some practice in on FMS but i only had my keyboard. after a while i thought that this is no real practice. so i setout to make myself a makeshift controller with 2 sticks, and the xbox controller just happend to be in the wrong place at the wrong time

i took to it with a blade and frankensteined a USB plug into the wire so it could be plugged into my computer, then found some drivers to suit. and then spent a while fiddling with a few of the settings to get all the axis working.

jumped onto FMS and with a little trial and error of the settings im hovering like a pro. even nose in. forward flight nose in however seems to be a whole new game.

thought i would have a little brag and rip on myself for being cheap.

Guide plz! I need a computer workable controller, and have a dead xbox wit controllers. How did you do this?

edit: I got it working, but it won't recongnise the right stick goin up and down as a channel? Did you do anything to get it to work? The driver can see it but the sim can't. neither fms or realflight.

ok for the getting a hacked version of realflight i leave that to you, just look for a dongle cracked one, once you have that its trial and error to get it setup.

to wire a xbox controller to your computer.

get 1 xbox controller and one dead USB mouse. chop the cord off of the usb mouse and get the wires ready to be connected to another wire (cleaned and stripped and waiting)

now you need to get a xbox controller and take the little bit off of the end (the part that you plug into the xbox) chop the end off of the cord (the part that you plug into the xbox) and then wire the USB cord from the mouse to the part that goes back to the controller ( red to red black to black etc) there are only 4 colors to connect together. once you have wired it up you can shrink tube them all up and make it look all pretty.

reconncet the littel cord to the controller and then plug into PC. and then you need to search for a xbox controller driver and install that onto your computer and BAM xbox controller for PC.

okay, i knid of have it. What channels does the right stick come in on? I know the right stick x axis is 20, but what is right stick y axis? You have any idea?

You can also go to Radio Shack and buy a PSX to USB adapter (part number 26-729) and use a Playststion controller. Not as cheap, but a lot simpler for those of us not so computer savy. Seems to work O.K. on FMS, but I haven't flown a real R/C heli yet. The wife says I have to wait till Santa comes before I can play. Have a Blade CX for my son and CP Pro for me sitting in my closet. It's driving me crazy not being able to fly/crash for real. Won't even let me load my FS One on the computer. (My son would see it) Have to stick with FMS and PS controller. Is it Christmas yet?
