Sim price

From what I've been told, a good sim that comes with a mock radio to use, or connectors so that you can use your own radio, is the Realflight G2 simulator. I have one on order, so can't really comment other than what I've read. The cost is from $180 to $200 depending on where you find one. I think tower hobbies is $200. There are a lot of sims cheaper out there, but I've been told this is the one to get. Hope this helps.

Sim's

Well, I'll let you know after I get it, lol. It seems all the experienced flyers say to get a lot of time in on one before trying the real thing. It's nice that you can use your actual radio to fly a helicopter on the computer and when you crash(and we all will) you can just start over. Sounds better than real heli parts all over the place. That will probably happen anyway, but hopefully not. Good luck

RealFlight G-2

I just received my RealFlight G-2 and have an idea how tricky it is to fly one of these now. I can see why the experienced flyers recommend using one before flying your real heli. It's an awesome sim.
I had a problem after downloading the sim on my puter, when starting the program, it would say I didn't have the proper 3-D video card setup. I spent quite a while downloading new drivers for the card and trying to figure out what was wrong. I was almost at the point of buying a new video card. I am using a NVIDIA GeForce 2 MX card, and thought this was good enough. Well I finally decided to give the RealFlight trouble shooting # a call. I got the nicest person on the other end and she asked about my system and walked me through what had to be checked. What we came up with is that you have to have Direct X 8.1 as a minimum. I had Direct X 9.0, the latest version. She said that there has been a problem with version 9.0(not just with them, but everywhere). Microsoft hasn't a clue why either. I had to go into the Direct X diagnostic tools and disable and reinable the 3D accelorator. This cured the problem and I was flying. So if any of you have this problem, that's the fix. My hats off to the customer support at realflight, absolutely the best.
So I would highly recommend a sim, it should help save some costly learning mistakes. Good luck and happy flying.
