| Re: screen freezing Ross, The freezing might be caused either by the memory in your computer (it might be bad) Or the processor might be working overtime causing some heat problems. If you notice the computer warmer that usual, you might consider adding an extra fan.

| Re: screen freezing Hi Folks, thanks for your replies,I don't think the computer is overheating,at all. I run other sims like Microsoft FS9 etc with no problems. The machine is only a few months old, with 1gb of memory, and has an Nvidia 6600 card, and an Athlon 3.00 processor,so I cant imagine there should be any probs on that front? But there again I'm not an expert. What "Panoramic Resolution" should Reflex run at,it is on the highest at present?Look forward to any further suggestions,as I think Reflex is a brilliant sim. Thanks again.....Ross |

| Re: screen freezing I find that when I am useing my sim if there is a ram or processer demanding program that starts up in the background this slows my frame rate quite a lot. I have had a screen freeze also but a few minutes of patience and I can usually start off again. Try adjusting your system performance settings for best performance and see if this helps. I am running the same sort of system as you with a 128MB agp graphics adapter, Nvidea ge force 6600, And I still aint getting the best out of my sim yet. I have just recently decided to upgrade motherboard and graphics adapter, This will take me into the pci express graphics eara. I am sure this will make a massive difference as you can bridge 2 pci express cards together for twice the rendering power. I will let you know how it is when I get this done. Of course this is not to say that the sim is running badly or anything because its not. It is still as important to me as when I first flew it. But experience from my other sim has showed me that as I upgraded the computer the other simulator got even better. That sim is the easyfly/Picofly that I bought from the same place as my XTR. some 5yrs ago. I still can't get over how good that was for its time.

| Re: screen freezing Thanks for your interesting and in depth reply Darren,I'll try playing around with the system performance, but I'm not 100% convinced that it will help, but who knows, you may well be right. The annoying part of this problem is that I can use the sim for an hour or so a dozen times with no problem, then it will freeze for no apparent reason....Strange, eh? Anyway, thanks again,we'll see what happens. |
