Exclamation Os 50 Back Firing

Hi all:

I just started using my OS 50 HYPER, and in 2 ocassions the engine has started turning in the other direction. The first time was sort of normal because it was over heated ( needle too closed ). Next day, first attempt to start, it started "normally" and when move the throttle I noticed again the same situation. The engine was cold, not flooded, glow plug ok.

What worries me is that the first time it did it in flight when autorotating ( throttle holded ) fortunately I never recover from autos using power, ( all the way to ground ) big surprise then...

Any one else have had this ?

Thanks guys

Re: Os 50 Back Firing

Weird really weird, It is not uncommon for some engines to start up going in the oposit direction to the starter. But I have never heard of it changing direction whilst already running.
I do have one idea as to what may cause this though and that is, Does your head have its spacer fitted? This is a very fine metal gasket like spacer that fits into the head. If you fit extra or fewer of these they can affect engine running and this is how you can tune your heli for more power if you get into it that much. Just an idea, If you dont have this in place maybe it is just compressing that fraction to early and causing the igniter to fire thus reversing the direction.
Only other thing it could be is that you dont have the right glow plug.
