Irvine 36: what are the two adjustments for?

I've lost my Irvine 36 manual and can't find one online, hence this question:


On the Irvine 36's carburettor, there are two adjustments either side:
- On the throttle side, there's a screw
- On the other side, there's a "bent pin" with a knurled knob that "clicks" when you turn it (is this the "needle valve"?)


What are they both used for, and what are the guidelines for adjusting them?

The way they are currently (as set up by a model heli shop back in 1999) is:
- screw is 4 turns out - the screw is just a little more than flush with the brass collar
- needle valve is just short of 1.5 turns out.

Hi buddy the small screw with the slotted head will be the low end mixture screw or tickover screw you use this to get the tickover right. The larger grip screw is the main mixture screw, the easyest way to explain how to use this is when your engine is running only pinch the fuel pipe to the carb if the engine revs up
this means that the engine requires less fuel so you turn the large screw in one click at a time. If when you pinch the pipe the engine dogs or dies then you open the screw to give more fuel.This is how it was explained to me . Hope it helps
