| OLD os32 I have just inherited an old shuttle, I have rebuilt it and as I have no one close by with experience i have had to set up my self. I have been as patient as I can setting it up, found a manual online for the os 32 (which hadnt been started in 10 years) set the needle to 2 full turns to start and with a new plug fired on its first turn what an engine!!!) My problem is I have raced cars and it says 1 -0.5 turns for its final adjustment and it just sounds to little and i am scared of damaging the engine what is the best way to tune it?? PS I had the shuttle airborn at 1.5 turns but it was very smokey cant wait till i can properly fly Initial flights have went well no damage thanks to a training gear but thanx to this website no accidents Again WHAT AN ENGINE 10 years |

| Hi Plenty of smoke is a good thing, If the engine sounds as though it is running well and the pickup is fine then I realy wouldn't worry too much. You can lean the engine a little buy turning the main needle clockwise this would increase the revs but you really need the engine to produce smoke. This is a sign that it is being oiled well. I runn my OS32sxh at 1 1/2 turns, if the egine is sluggish to pick up throttle then you can lean it a couple of clicks, it should be fine if throttle response is good. if thottle is good then it dies out you will need to richen the mixture.. not much smoke indicates that it is runnung lean this can damage your engine if too lean, plenty of smoke is a good indicator that the engine is getting enough oil. hope this helps, Darren.
