Os32 Problem I have a TT 30 V2 with an OS32 with TT muffler, Im new on Helis but old on fixed wings, today was my first forward flight and it was great!! , BUT at the end I had a big problem with my engine, The needle was adjusted at 3000 feets above sea level to two or three clicks to close from the point I had the RPMs to hover on middle stick, very rich to breakin, I did not change this setting and went to forward flight (at sea level) after a couples of nosein hovers and eight figures without problems at, lets say, 50 feets high, I decided to land (heart beat gots high) when I started to cut the throttle, the Heli started to came down very fast, I applied full throttle but no signs of reaction, (the engine kept running all the time) the descent speed slowed a bit because I think I started to autorotate (which is over my scope now) since my blades are at +8 degrees at full stick, one interesting thing, there was no wind at all, but when the Heli started to came down I saw that the smoke from the muffler stopped to draw the typical vertical line facing down and started to disipated very near from the muffler like having a strong turbulence from below. but at least at my level there was no wing. it happened twice, the first the Heli (with training gear) touched the ground and bounce vertically, I could recover the control after the bounce, second time the Heli stopped on the air cushion (ground effect) but went to its side, tip over and a pair of blades damaged, I have videos of all this. Any help to gain condifent with this engine again will be great.

Re: Os32 Problem Sounds like the motor isn't tuned right. I had same issue were mine would lose power and fall no matter what I did alot of times when I would punch gas to full it would fall. But we had to tune it also check your head my head actually was lose and causing us not to be able to tune it right. When I said head I mean the motor head I brought my heli in and checked stuff on it and I could move motor head with my fingers . So I fixed it but I have had about same your talking about when motor isn't tuned right. Sounds like it might be running a lean not sure. If I could see the video's it might help me to help you tune it since I can see smoke etc.

Re: Os32 Problem Hi. I went to our field and I discussed this with some guys who knows about it, yes, maybe the engine is not tuned right but it seems that the problem is that I do not have enough RPM for a given pitch, I hover at half stick but the guys there told me that I have low RPMs, my tach will arrive tomorrow in order to confirm this. anyway I increased RPM at 10% at half stick and improved a lot. Also they spot a bad rule that I took from fixed wings, when you want to land on fixed wings is very easy to move the stick totally down and the plane will sail and start to descend, when you get the descend rate you will move the stick up again to compesate, but in Helis its better not to cut the throtlle at once, is more critical if you have a small engines as the 30, when you cut the throtle the engine RPM will decrease very fast but the blades will try to keep running at the same speed, as you realize that the machine is coming down pretty fast you will try to push hard on the stick trying to get some power to stop the descend, but things get worse here, you have a very weak engine with very low torque and you need to accelerate a very high pitch blades (remember you are pushing hard on the stick) that drag a lot, this is one of the explanation that I got. I will try to post the video.

Re: Os32 Problem Hi. This is the video, I dont know why but stopped just before the Heli made the tip over, but you can see the smoke from the muffler, when was comming down I had the throtlle stick totally up, but nothing responded. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OSCJg8OY57c
