| OS MAX 61 SFX-1994 model settings Hi all: Built a 60 Ergo in 1997 but never flew it. Getting back in it, cannot find documentation for engine and want to set low and high speed needles. Low speed is inside the throttle barrel. I think about 1 1/2 turns out on each? Do they interract with each other? Thanks!! |

| Re: OS MAX 61 SFX-1994 model settings Hi, The needles do interact but only around the mid throttle or just below it. The needle inside the throttle barrel is for adjusting the idle to mid range of the engine. This needle is very sensative and should only be moved a fraction, It should allso only be adjusted after you have set the top end of the engines range on the main needle. The needle settings that I would use are 2 1/2 turns from closed on the main needle, 1 1/2 on the low/idle needle. Adjust the main needle settings first get the lift/climbout sorted then go set up the low speed needle. remember its a requirment to have good smoke. Dont lean the engine too much as this can damage the engine. hope this helps, ![]()

| Re: OS MAX 61 SFX-1994 model settings Hi Darren: Big thanks for the advice.I flew yesterday to get things sorted and made sure to have big oil stains on the asphalt! Did get high speed needle sorted, but think I was running low/mid too rich. it would sputter and quit after high speed run and I think the rich mix was cooling the plug. I'll keep at it, but am also getting tempted by a Blade CP electric to get my skills honed without all the BS of nitro |

| Re: OS MAX 61 SFX-1994 model settings I know what you mean,I myself have not long taken the jump to electric and even though I am now here I do enjoy my nitro still. I love the fact that I have my T rex and can go fly my nitro when the urge takes me. I dont regret going into electric though it is frustrating that the quality is just not there yet IMHO. Nitro have far better quality and boy are they more stable. But I do fly much more now I have the electric and it is a lot less messy, Go for it you wont regret it as long as you get a decent one to step into. Happy flying, Oh yeah by the way the main needle settings I sugested will leave you rich but you can lean it from there. I get the fealing you know how to go about that .

| Re: OS MAX 61 SFX-1994 model settings Hey Darren: From the little I've seen live, I'm on the same page re: electric quality. My issue is that I'm still a beginner, having stopped in '97 right after building the JR 60. I had just gotten hovering and a few gentle circular flights in with the Shuttle 30. Now, I want to learn real flight and some aeros and figure better to drill the CP in the ground and fix it cheap and fast rather than bend up the Ergo and possibly never be able to get parts again. Like you implied, I can carry the little toy in the vehicle and fly whenever it strikes me to do so. Got to run to a trade show here, but will be back later. Have a ?? on a gyro I can't quite sort out. Good on ya |
