I just bought a Raptor 50 heli off ebay and I am looking to get an engine for this bird. I have an Ergo 30 CCPM with an OS .32 SX-H and have never had a problem (or flame out). I would normally just run an get the 50 size since I have only heard good things about the OS engines, however my one buddy bought a OS .50 last fall and hated it. It kept leaning out at higher RPM's and would flame out. He sent his unit back to OS and they rebuilt the unit. He never re-opened the box. It's sitting on his shelf at home. I bet he would give me a great deal on the engine but I would hate to buy a lemon as well. Has anyone had any issues with this engine (or good stories)?

hi greg i'm not sugesting to buy this engine but if it's a realy good deal all engine prob can be solved. my friend had a simm problem well actually two friends same heli first one lost patience and sold it beffor i could help out and guess whAT found the prob whit friend #2 turns out the o-ring on the low speed needle was to small and would screw itself shut in flight consequence ,,might sound familiar the engine leaned out and quit..fond this out trying to riched the low speed when it was fully closed after i had already adjusted it the flight befor,so i reopenned the low speed needle and i did the same thing....so new o-ring and the engine is smooth as ca be..steff

Hi, The OS 50 is just the same as most OS engines and from what I've seen and Heard they perform exellant for the most part. There are as Steff has said sometimes problems with the main needle but on advice sort from a pro I have found out that the high nitro fuels can cause the Oring on the main needle to wear prematurely. so after a few gallons with High Nitro fuels they may well need to be changed. Leaning out in flight is a sure sign that the Oring is not holding the main needle. This can happen with any engine though and I wouldn't let it put me off. Regards Daz,
