OS 32 Engine

Hi Guys,

Have a Century sport fitted with an OS32 Engine
It runs well and flys ok with plenty of smoke. But leaves large quantites of oil from the fuel dripping out of the muffler.
It also appears to have a similar oil leak from the cylinder head? or somewhere in that vicinity.
Im running it on 20% helimix fuel,is this correct and is this large oil residual normal ?
Many Thanks for your help.

Re: OS 32 Engine

Hi NICKT,

It’s normal for fuel and oil to exit the muffler. But the amounts have
to be minimal. You might have your engine running too rich.

Re: OS 32 Engine

Thanks for the reply, will try leaning it off.
Is 20 % mix ok, and do you think oil and fuel separate in the container, as I am using the last couple of inches of a gallon bottle thats quite old?
Thankyou once again. NickT

Re: OS 32 Engine

Hi NICKT,

The 20 percent mix sounds okay to me. If you still notice the problem
when you lean out the engine, try to reduce the mix to 18 percent.

You are going the wrong way mate.....the leaner you make it the less smoke it will blow. You need to tune your engine as rich as possible without loss of power.

Re: OS 32 Engine

Hi sorry to hijack the thread but it wont let me start a new one under this section for some reason.
Anyway just a quick newbie question if anyone can help,I've just built a Hirobo Shuttle Plus with an OS 32 SH-X motor & have only just noticed I havent got an air filter on the engine. Is this normal for RC heli's or am I just missing one? It's just that all my Nitro cars had filters so I wasnt sure.

Thanks in advance

Shane

If you dont let the smoke out it will kill the engine very quickley

You need to richen the Lower needle to get a rough idle (around 2-2 1/2 turns out and 1 3/4 -2 on the high should do as a starting point adjust them in slightly untill the throttle is smooth and you have plenty of smoke

You can then lean the engine in with very small movements of the lower and higher needle after the engine has been ran in

You should always see a good smoke trail for the sake of the engine and your Bank Balance

GhostCav

Its normal on a heli to not use a filter unless you are in a very dusty Environment
