I have modified the mixers on my nexus. I cut the plastic balls off when they were showing signs of wear and then useing a dremel I put some holes in the centre of where the balls were and put steel ones there. They fit great and are very secure. I have flown the heli through 2 gallons and have not had a problem. the movement even seems much smoother.
Saved a fair bit for a little work, and got better movement to boot.
If yours wear and you would like to try this I would recommend it. Looks better too.
