Re: im about to buy my first micro heli TIPS?

What I recommend is probably not what you want to hear but I think that you should get a good sim first and think about a heli later because if you have not got a source of constant income heli's can be expensive when it comes to repairing a crash and you will crash where as with a sim you only have to reset the sim to fly again.By a good sim I mean either Great Planes G3 or you could get Ikarus aero flight deluxe you can get usb controllers for each that look and act like a radio infact they are made by futaba it comes as a complete set up with the sim and controller but they will cost you around $200.00.This is not something that you are going to be able to pick up right away I spent over three months on the sim before I even purchased a heli,I started with great planes G2 the older version and after my sim time I was able to hover the first time with no problems.Get a sim work on it and save your money up to get a good heli not some cheap heli that will be more trouble than it is worth.Cheap RTF heli's are not as good a deal as most people think because there is really no heli that will fly right out of the box it just does not happen.Well as I said this is just what I would do and this way you can learn the right way and not cost your self more money than you have right now.

Re: im about to buy my first micro heli TIPS?

I agree with MOE also. It is much better crashing a computer sim a few thousand times then it would be to crash a real one once. Especially if you don't have cash for repairs handy. When you are ready to buy though I would recommend buying a better quality heli. Cheap heli's fly like cheap heli's. Many flyers would disagree with me here, but if you can get a heli with collective pitch like the CP Blade by Eflite you would be problably be more happy.( Especially if you've mastered a good quality simualtor) There is more to break in a horrible crash, but its flight handling is quite good. Eventually when you get quite good, you can upgrade it to fly 3D when you're ready. The basic CP Blade costs $219.00.

You should also buy a set of training landing gear, and a crash kit. (about $20)

Good luck in what ever you decide!

Re: im about to buy my first micro heli TIPS?

Hi.

If I was you I wouldn't buy a Dragonfly. The electronics are apparently bad and it will end up being harder to fly (My friend just crashed his and it fell apart)

I've just bought an Esky Honey Bee. Haven't flown it yet because I haven't managed to get the controller working with the simulator.

I suggest you go with the Honey Bee (Or Twister) You can get some cheap deals on EBay.
