| Flash Back Hi,After crashing four times Im becoming an expert I now have another pilot to help me. Just having him there makes a difference. But i had a strange experiance today while hovering in the wind. The heli lifted up and turned left due to the wind. I had a few seconds of panick and all the previous crashes flashed before my eyes.(well it wasn't that bad )The person with me soon realised i was going a bit high and gave me some advice.I was correcting the heli just before he said anything so i reckon i only froze for a second or two. It did kick my confidence because after that i wouldn't go higher than a foot off the ground. Still it did my low level hovering good .Has anyone else had the same experience. Im sure if i was more confident id be flying about now.

| Re: Flash Back Hi, If you are useing a none heading hold gyro or are in normal mode and you are flying side into wind then your heli will always weather vain into wind. The nose of the heli will be turned to the direction of the wind. If you were flying into wind then it could have been a slightly different direction that the wind came from. Dont worry about this it is normal when useing a normal gyro and you are flying in wind. just allways fly as near as you can into the direction of the wind. With a heading hold gyro your heli should stay fixed in the direction you last gave it. In this case the whole heli would drift in the direction of the wind but staying pointed in the direction you left it facing. I'm sure that you are doing just fine and well done for not loosing your nerve. Keep up the good work ![]()
