Unhappy First Flight First Crash!!!!!

Well i just bought a Esky Belt CP and well i couldn't seem to find a local hobby shop that wanted to help with set up or anything so i decided to just try it. Well it went real bad. I now have a bent tail boom, broken landing gear, main gear, fly bar, main blades, bent linkage to the tail rotor, and broken tail struts. Roughly 60-70$ worth of parts. Cant believe they are that hard to fly. But i also think mine was not set up right. Real twitchy too.

Sorry to hear that, thats pretty bad if a hobby shop doesnt want to help...I guess some people get a bit silly when you dont buy from them?

Dont let this put you off....accidents happen...and you will break stuff as you go along the path to successful flying.

You have a simulator right?...if not then get one...they are well worth the money.

Hardly any RTF heli is going to handle very well out of the box....mass production means haste...loose screws and other problems will abound with such models.

To tame the controls down try altering the servo control rods...move them to the innermost holes on the servo arms.

Fit some training gear...you can make your own,,,two crossed sticks tied to the skids...with ping pong balls on the ends...these will help the stick ends not dig into anything...

Your cheif aim is to hold a steady hover...nothing else...once you can do this then you can move onto other things.

Like I said...get a Simulator...fly the crap out of it....this will give you a better basis.

Re: First Flight First Crash!!!!!

Yeah I'm getting one this week. I just ordered all the parts i could tell were broke or bent and I'm out 102.34 with shipping. But that was for two or more of each part and a couple parts I'm sure are bent but cant tell like feathering shaft i hear they bend a lot so i got 4 of those and two tail booms two servo push rods ect. I don't like to wait so i will get a stock pile of parts:-)

Also my battery came out like 100mph and hit me in the chest man that could have hurt if it would have been about 12'' higher

Good to hear you are getting sorted out....I tend to order 'Bulk' too where I am it takes ages to get bits...about 10 days or so.

Once rebuilt fit that training gear. Helis are a handful to fly at the best of times but once you crack the hovering thing you are well on your way.

I am not sure about the radio system you got there...but be very wary of the '3D' function if its fitted...I would tape this OFF or something...this switch will give you trouble otherwise.

If you are talking about the idle up yes mine has one but i steer clear of that switch. What do you guys think of the clear view simulator? I can get a cable for my transmitter and get this sim and get to practice with my own trans. But i dont want to use a sim that is not going to help me.

Clearview should be ok....I have seen a review on it...looks to be better than FMS by a long way.

Re: First Flight First Crash!!!!!

I played with the real flight sim at my HS and i tried the clear view trial and they are different but both seem to pretty much do the same thing. I just bought another belt cp kit, it comes with everything i broke already put together and there was only 25$ difference if i ordered the parts or just bought a new kit. I will just have to swap the motor and servos etc. I'm just not sure the wife will let me order a 200$ Sim :-)
