Cool Going inverted

I just picked up a used axe cp w/ hl gyro 2 days ago. After several hours of tuning I got it dialed in to my likings. Yesterday evening after a couple of very nice flights I decided on the next flight that I was going to go inverted and show my girlfriend how my new machine and improved flying skills performed. Bad Mistake. I've done this thousands of times on the simulator with probaly 20 different helis. Its was not even close to feeling the same. Needless to say I watched my perfectly tuned heli do the funky chicken on asfault! Am I trying to do too much too fast or is my heli not up to par. I've only been flying a couple of months, butt have a lot of time on the sim.

Re: Going inverted

Best thing to do is to keep the heli nice and high before going inverted....this way you have height which is our friend because this can give you time to pull out should things go wrong.

I know what you mean about the sim....reality sees that our helis are not always up to par.....its usually a headspeed thing....I have found anyway. If this is too low then you can have trouble getting the heli inverted anyway.

Another factor is that you will be a bit nervous....and prone to making the wrong move....its better to do this on your own...till you get comfy...before showing the Lady in your life how good you are

Good luck...and keep that heli nice and high!!

Re: Going inverted

When you go inverted you will experience something really new, even the sound of the blades cutting the air is different, first, I will not try to go inverted at once, is better to start making severals 100% loops, Once you start the loop DO NOT stop your elevator until you are back on your feets, doesnt matter if your bird start to spin at the middle of the loop, do not try to correct this attitudes, just wait and hold it until you can have the bird on a "normal" position, after several loops you will find the confidence and you can start to stop at the middle of the loop leaving the bird upside down.

Good luck!!

Re: Going inverted

I would say that a axe cp is alot and I mean alot harder to do inverted with then say a 30 size or bigger bird. I can do big birds upside down in my sleep alot of time on the sims. But get a Blade CP or a Axe Cp on the sim and try it alot different. They seem to not have enough power and they try and twist every time you go inverted like backwards I think. Now I have never done any bird inverted in real life yet just in sim to scared to try in real life lol and can't get my birds engine to run good lately. But anyway I believe I could because of sim but I have a blade cp and it is much harder then my 30 size bird so I would recommend maybe a bigger bird or getting a axe cp etc on the sim and try that one.

Re: Going inverted

One important thing to go inverted for beginners, you must use a AVCS gyro, dont try to do it with a CCPM kind of control, this controls are proporcional and when you start to go negative in pitch your tail will not hold because the CCPM does not know how to handle this change in pitch and torque.
