Smile Just flew.

I got a Dragonfly and just flew it. Very fun! I am very glad that i got into this.
It was so fun! I got to hovering and basics.
I had to stop though cause some kid told his dog to go after it and the dog kept trying to get it and the kid wouldnt make his dog stop.
Oh well.
it was fun anyway.
The dragonfly is an awesome heli!

Re: Just flew.

Congrats Mini

Its a good feeling innit. Somewhere between pure elation and your butt cheeks chewing holes in your underwear lol.

Other people is always a problem when you fly in pubilc because you dont have any control over the situation and they often dont have any clue the danger they are putting themselves in. I had a similar situation when a friend of mine (excellent pilot) was tuning the engine on one of My Sceadus, (4ft rotor nitro) He was hovering the model in a park at about 6 feet and this guy started walking straight towards it, you would think seeing a flying saw hovering in the park, would make him think twice about getting close but no, it was almost like "Im gonna go and get a good look at this". Needless to say, we stopped at that point.

Take care... Azzy

Re: Just flew.

Ahhh...the general public toys they might seem, but toys they are not! I reckon many people think themselves 'bullet proof' when it comes to RC whirly things.

I dont mind people watching but only after I explain that these things can crash and spread wreckage far and wide.....I usually ask them to hang around somewhere for protection.

Model flyers have a duty to protect the public and themselves...very difficult to do on 'common' ground....I usually shut the heli down and go home....or wait till the other folk clear off.....having said that...most people I know have enough common sense to keep clear anyway.

Re: Just flew.

Nice,
I'm down in the South Bay and fly in my apartment complex parking lot

I'm only at the hover stage, though. Once 3d comes together, that'll be out of the question.

Re: Just flew.

Again congrats on your flight. Even though you may not yet know it you are taking some of the bigest steps in the hobby. They are without doubt the most difficult times as you spend most of your time chasing the heli unless you spend lots of practice hours on the sim as even I still do.

In fact thats where I am off now. I fancy a few hours crashing ok maybe not.... Just the odd crash. At least it aint going to cost anything and will have me tuned in again.

Happy hovering fella, Very well done.
