No more training gear!

Took my training gear off the t-rex for the first time tonight. I was a little stressed about it at first. Spent the first 5 minutes just getting use to the different weight and balance of the heli. I finished that battery and the next hovering with out incident. I realized that I was ready to do this weeks ago I was just afraid to give up that comfort of having the gear on. If anyone else thinks they are ready but is a little aprehensive about it I will tell you it is a nice feeling to break through the fear and have a successful flight.

Re: No more training gear!

Congratulations with the training gear loss.

There aint no stopping you now, Just be carefull and take it easy when landing and flying it about. It is very easy to loose orientation of the heli now, As for the landings the landings need to be a lot softer.

Good luck with the rest of your flying, Have fun.

Well done....I was the same as you.....I wondered what the fuss was about after I removed the gear.....but do keep the gear because if you are setting up a model and are wondering if its ok then there is no harm in fitting the gear for that test hover/flight....better to be safe than sorry.

Like Daz said...dont rush those landings.....ease that heli down nice and gentle.

Re: No more training gear!

HI,

Just a quick note further to what I have already said. You will need to be very carefull when landing on grass or uneven ground now as the heli wont ballance as stable as it was with the training undercarage. You will find somtimes that as you are bringing the power off after touchdown that the heli will suddenly lay to one side as it looses that last bit of lift. Be ready for this and just lift it back up and find another spot to land on that is flatter.

Just thought it worth meantioning.

Thanks for the tip! I have mainly flown in the warehouse at work and would not have expected the situation you described.
