Re: BCX Drifts, please help!

Hiya Azzy, John, and Rob!!
Wow, I feel special, got all kinda help going my way... Very nice!!
Ok, no problem with the rudder control, I can handle that, I reckon that is something you have to do with a heli that has a tail rotor anyway? so it is good practice, it is good to know that is not just me or my heli acting up, if it is inherent to helis it is something I can handle and adapt to, no sweat.
Yes, I have found out that this heli, or at least me anyway, cannot handle flying in any kind of wind, the only reason I fly outside is because there is more room...Doh! that was a stupid statement, that is why everyone flies outside, lol. It's just that I break less parts in the lawn,
Trim the best I can and go with it...ok, no problemo. See, i don't mind having to do this as long as i know it is not the machine messing up, what I am trying to say is..if the machine has a problem then it is hard to learn cuz I am not only trying to learn but fighting a machine that is not properly functioning to begin with... I am no explaining it very good, but I bet ya'll get what I mean. BUT..it is functioning right, I just needed to stop being timid and get down and do something, I adjusted the pushrods and that helped ALOT! In a way it is cool that no one is here to help me, (not really) but...I am having to learn the hard way and do these things on my own which means I won't dang well forget!! Also learn a bit more than having someone else do the work.
Hope I get to talk to ya'll soon again, I am off to go fly some while there is no wind.
Be good and have fun,
blue

Re: BCX Drifts, please help!

Hey John! you there?
You mention the 4-n-1, I *read* in another forum that that was what alot of peeps did to reduce heat, what they did was take the whole box out, then undo the 2 little screws and took it apart the board comes out easily, then they drilled holes all throughout the plastic box and reinserted the board and put it back in, some took the board out and chucked the box it comes in and ziptied it to the frame, I will come clean and say that is the one I did...but!! After all the hard hits the poor heli has gone through nothing has happened to it...yet. The only thing I have not done is fall 5o ft..yet. The 4-in-1 still keeps on ticking,,,wait! is it a bomb??!! lol, sry, bad sense of humor, *snicker*, *cough*/clears throat/* Basically, it is going great! No kidding this time. I carved out the fake intakes on front sides of fuselage, (canopy, front body) and cut a few hole on top of body by motors, U might be able to see that in my avatar, if not i have a bigger pic in the photo section called "My BcX", snazzy title don't you think?
Be good and have fun,

Blue

Re: BCX Drifts, please help!

A heli thats trimmed to fly well will hover on its own....for one or two seconds anyway....a badly trimmed heli will be a nuisance to fly unless you get used to it and enjoy it.

Heres a trick....balance the heli by its flybar....across the ways and see if the heli is either nose down or tail down....if its either then add/reduce weight till its looking level... this will do much to reduce the amount of trim you might be using on the cyclic control.....any trim like that will reduce the power just that little bit.....the rotors have a hard enough job to do without propping up an awkward angle of the heli.

If you get into larger helis the principals are the same...I have found that just that bit of extra work to balance and adjust will pay dividends in that you will get a superb flying heli....in fact once you tinker and adjust you shouldnt need to touch the settings again....untill you break something.

Re: BCX Drifts, please help!

Hiya Rob,
I understand what you are saying about balancing with weights, umm, just wondering what you would suggest? The tail is kinda easy, I guess wrap some soldering wire(if it is tail heavy) around the tail boom near as possible to the end? Just a little blank on the front, I can understand sticking something in the nose of the front body but..there are a lot of times I fly it with no front on cuz I might have to adjust something, not really anything up front to attach to on my BCX. but..actually it is ok, cuz I pick up the heli by the flybar and it hangs level. So, I am good there.
Actually Rob, so far everything you have told me has helped alot, I have gotten the bugs out, I think what I really need to do is just practice, practice, practice, and slow down a bit, I think I am pushing myself too fast, and from what I have heard and read, and experienced, that just isn't the way to learn.
Be good, have fun,

Blue

Re: BCX Drifts, please help!

Hey Blue,
I read somewhere else a couple months ago here that someone balanced the front of the heli by sticking a nickle or two under the 4n1 mount in the front. If it's tail heavy that seems to be the easiest way to go. I needed to do that with my Elite, as the aftermarket belt drive tail box is heavier than the stock box - hence tail heavy heli. Two did the trick. Obviously could try other coins as well - a British pound or some Euros perhaps

Re: BCX Drifts, please help!

With the BCX, just adjust the battery position. This way it doesnt add any weight to the heli, and works effectively. Actually that is what I do for my Blade CP, and my Swift as well.

Never even knew that the case on the 4-in-1 came off, guess it should have been obvious. Thanks for the advice, might just do like you and leave it off, as I dont crash that helicopter more than once every 5-10 batteries. My friends on the other hand, they crash it a lot.

John

Re: BCX Drifts, please help!

Hiya guys,
Thx Emil, didn't think of that, if I do have a balance problem, I will remember what you suggest!
Ya John, really when I think about it the little plastic box the 4-n-1 is in is not cushioned, if nothing physically hits the 4-n-1 board it should be fine out of the box, it would take vibration just the same...if I am saying it right, in or out of the box it is still gonna take the same amount of recoil so to speak. Now something physically hitting the board..well, that is a different story. But with the front body on it is fairly protected. That is the way I see it anyway. And if you see my Heli it has holes in the front body I cut in to help air flow to help keep things cool.
Be good and have fun guys, thx for being so helpful!!!
