I've only gone and done it!

I went to a local club yesterday and with some help from the flyers at the field got the heli trimmed and flying. Seems like i had the setup almost right, a couple of little bits and pieces that i hadn't thought of. OS engine was a pain in the butt, wouldn't start and then kept cutting the moment any power was applied, but that's sorted now.

Only managed a single tank of fuel first time round, but that'll change next week. Managed to get the thing hovering for about 30s at one point. Can't wait to get the thing in the air without the training sticks, they saved my baby at least once yesterday though so i'm not in too much of a rush.

Thanks to everyone who has helped me, especially yeloowtang.

couple of tanks?

I'm planning on living in the flying field next weekend. Have to say it was even more fun than i had ever imagined. If it hadn't taken so long to setup and i hadn't had things to do, i'd have done a few more while i was there.

The sim definitely helped, but i'd been flying on the sim without HH on the gyro. Heading hold is like god's gift to hovering.

Not sure about flying high, but i'll take care out there

Cheers again

Russ
