| I thought this was gonna be fun Just bought a walkera #4. not being able to get the sim to work and being the impatient engineer type figured I'd give it a try. well one of the paddle bars broke right at the paddle, no problem just cut 3/8 inch off the other end so they're balanced, is that why it just shoots left? I'v tried adjusting slide bars on transmitter, adjusting the angle of paddles, still left , any ideas I must get this thing to hover, can't let the wife win this one! |

| Re: I thought this was gonna be fun Just to offer some advice to this, If for any reason you have a flybar snap it is generally accepted that you replace it with a new one. The reason for this is that shortening the flybar which is what you have done will serve to grestly increase the input response. This may sound like a good thing but if the heli has been designed with a flybar at a certain length then you should stay with it unless they make one shorter. All small electric heli's and even bigger ones move to the left or right at take off. I understand the urge to get the heli flying, I made the same mistake myself years ago. Trust me when I say get yourself a simulator or at least find somone that has one and ask them if you can try their one out. You will soon see that it takes a lot more that knowing what inputs do to actualy fly these things. I have been around heli pilots for years and knew what each function did. But it didn't help me at all in the beginning. also just because it looks easy doesn't mean that it is. Repair your heli properly or get someone that can do it for you. Then get some practice Either on a simulator of your own or see if you can track someone down and make a deal with them. If you do what I did in the beginning which was Dumb. Then it is going to cost you each time you try and you'll soon wish you invested in one. Good luck hope you can find a sim to try out.

| Re: I thought this was gonna be fun I dont really want to put too much more money into this piece of...plastic than I have to , I did order a couple of parts though. I will search for a sim and hopefully advance to a better machine in due time. Any ideas on a decent sim, hobby shop, e-bay? how much $$ ? Thanks for the advice |

| Re: I thought this was gonna be fun I have been using the reflex XTR simulator for a long time now and it has been an exellant step up from my old Easyfly/Piccofly simulator which for the price here is also a fantastic help to anyone learning from scratch. The Reflex XTR is a cut above the others though and I say this after flying the Realflight and the easyfly Pro. Though in fairness any of these sims will be a definate investment for the newbie. I cna gaurentee you that you will save yourself the cost of the simulator ten times over in the first week. From crashing with it, Difference being you will be able to pull yourself together and off you go again. A sim will increase your ability and reactions in much faster time than trying to learn with the real thing. I KNOW THIS FROM EXPERIENCE, So for me its the XTR all the way though each to there own. I can only offer you guidence from the massive experience I have on simulators. I teach people at my home on my Reflex and most of the time after a few weeks they end up inviting me to there house to use theres they end up buying. Like I say to the guys and Kids that I teach, A simulator if it is good enough will stay with you for years. You can constantly progress and try new things on it getting used to the reactions you need before taking it to the flying feild. My first sim was basic to say the least but it got me well into FFF (fast forward flight) stall turns and loops. But the reflex can take you much further again even allowing you to auto realisticly. Trust me it is fun fun fun. and you save money hand over fist. There you go. Now do what you will with this advice. And have fun with which ever simulator you get. ![]()

| Re: I thought this was gonna be fun One more thing to add. Be sure that your radio is compatible with which ever simulator you purchase. Better still invest in a good radio transmitter and get the sim together. then you can learn to use your radio as you learn to fly and use the simulator. Happy flying.
