6" woo hoo

I have the Walkera 36 and got it 6" off the ground in my garage. It seems to be lacking in power for any higher flight. well I did get it about a foot off on one flight. I'm waiting for a better controller for my brushless motor the Walkera one doesn't seem to work right, It just goes full throttle and doesn't shut off all the time so I'm using the brushed motor for now. I also noticed the servos don't seem to have enough power. they seem slow to react to input then goes to far ( evevator and aieleron ). the rudder one is okay. I'm now waiting for some new blades and holders. hit a lawn chair in the garage. I just bought some better servos at the LHS and will be putting those in on the weekend. now might be a good time to do another and better check on everthing while I'm waiting for parts. I also ordered a Hitec receiver and going to use my 7CAP radio with it. anybody have any opinions on what gyro would be better without spending alot? I also bought a T-Rex which is in the assembly stage. I'll pactice on the 36.

Re: 6" woo hoo

I notice the same thing with the Walkera... underpowered and very sluggish on the controls. I have retired it.

The Blade CX is a dandy little copter to get used to the business of translating the controls to the copter heading. The training wheels for it are trash, however.

Re: 6" woo hoo

Because I'm in the garage it has only been about 2 feet of the ground. It lifts off at half throttle with ease. I'm using the 400LF brushless motor that came with the T-REX and a Phoenix25 controller and the 650 Ni-Mh's, the LiPo I got with it doesn't seem to work well. Haven't noticed any glitching yet but will be switching over to my Futaba CAP7 radio anyways. I also have planes so bought that radio with the thought of being able to use it with heli's when I wanted too. the walkera controler didn't work well and there isn't any instructions for programing it, nor have I been able to get them. The T-REX is still being built, I'll fly that after I get good at or destroy the Dragonfly. I just couldn't get it anymore then about a foot off the ground with the brushed motor at full throttle. I have since hit a lawn chair in the garage and now it spins counter clockwise even when I apply full rudder. I need to investagate further to find the problem.

Re: 6" woo hoo

All I had to do was cut the battery connector off of the Walkera controller and put it on the Phoenix one. You could just change them to any after market ones. I don't have a pitch gauge yet. I have unlocked it and dial it in on the knob, not sure what it is at max pitch. I am using the stock radio at the moment. I have to use the Futaba to program the controler as the stock one wouldn't enter the programing mode. Phoenix sells a cable to program from your computer, I'm going to get that the next time I go to the LHS. you can check your settings with it and make changes without going through the entire setup. I'm waiting for a smaller receiver for the futaba and I have to read through the book to learn how to set it up before i put it in. none of the local LHS's carry the 36 parts but the shogun parts appear to be Identical, I have already bought a few of these parts. I bought it from goldrust1 in british columbia, I live in Ontario. The motor came with the T-REX as a package and the controller was $85.00 cdn. look for a controller you can program. The motor never cut out on the brushed motor, It did on the brushless. I had to change the current setting to stop it. I would never go back to a brushed motor.
