raptor 30 vibrate in air

hi i was wondering if any one can help, i have a raptor 30 and have sort of mastered the hover but twice now the heli starts to vibrate badly while in the air and has snapped the boom, i was wondering if it was the undercarraige(training aid) thats causing the problem or what it is, it doesnt vibrate while on the ground
thanks

It's a possibility that the training aid is helping to set up a resonant vibration... any springy mass can cause that. Another thing is the blade tracking. I would check the blade tracking first. If that's ok, you could tape some wooden sticks - maybe 1/16 wooden dowels - to the training aid to stiffen it up a bit.

Another thing to test is your tension on your tail drive belt. It can set up some weird vibrations if it is slightly loose but not quite loose enough to jump. check that the tail blades can move and are not over tightened. I would agree that your training aid can cause this sort of vibration also. The sooner you feel confident enough to land without it and take off without it then the quicker you should get shot of it. As long as you can take it down nice and steady to land the better.
They are great for preventing tipping at take off and landing. But some people I have known have grown so dependent on it they havent realised that it is holding them back.
If your happy with your controll at take off and landing help yourself and get rid of it. just take it easy after till you grow confident with it off.

check the flybar paddles are level with the swash level these can sumtimes get bumped and move then cause weird vibes that come and go much the same as the training skid aid.

Anyway. Good luck with it hope you get it down. (let us know)

Re: raptor 30 vibrate in air

I remember when i was using one of those training aids on one of my helis it shook so bad it fired those balls and sticks in 4 different directions like arrows MMM it got my attension .Check your head speed isnt to low that can cause a wide range of vibrations and the tail going up and down and stuff. With any luck u wont be needing the training aid for long
Good luck with it.

Re: raptor 30 vibrate in air

Hey bud,

What sort of vibration is it? Do you see it on the skids, are they moving side to side/back to front? Have you had any heavy landings since you started out? Does the vibration only start once you're in a stable hover, or is it present from the moment you leave the ground? Try to be specific, and maybe we can help you further

Which of the steps in the above posts have you tried so far? What are you using to track your blades, do you know how to track them properly? Do you know what headspeed you're running at, and have you done any mods?
