I have a Voyager E and have enjoyed it very much it is very easy to build and to fly. This heli is a dream for beginner electric pilots it is big enough to fly outdoors and indoors also,it handles the wind well and is very durable in crashes. If you put a longer tail boom on it with a longer tail belt and larger main rotor blades makes this a fantastic heli to fly.I will be glad to help any one that either has or is thinking of getting a Voyager E with any questions or problems. Pictures of my Voyager E are in the picture forum if you want to see one and my good friend Rotorgeek's Voyager E is there also to show what mods are available for it.

Talking Re: Voyager E

Hi
I have started with a GWS Dragonfly and moved to a
Blade CP which I am having a lot of fun with .
Just ordered a JR 9303 Radio and am getting a used Voyager E
ready to go . I will be using an Aveox 36/15/1.5 3812 RPM/V 60 amp
motor . I have a 16 and a 15 tooth pinion .
A CC 45 and Thunder Power 6000 3S3P .
I would like to find out which pinion would be better or if I need
another . Would you know or be able to help me ?

Re: Voyager E

The thing is you need to get a optical tach and set the head speed the Voyager needs to run around 1800 for a good head speed and where I live I have to use a different pinion because of altitude and thin air to get the bird off the ground.I use the astro flight 20 motor made for the voyager E and I modified mine so that I can use larger rotor blades and larger tail rotor blades this gives me better control because of the larger rotor disk.Right now I use Mah 463 rotor blades the stock voyager blade is a 420 I think and soon I am going to try a modification on mine where I will be able to use MAH 500 rotor blades.Look in the picture section you will see my voyager with the 463 blades.I use the 15 tooth pinion but the motor I use allows me to use the stock JR pinions and so it has the correct pitch on the pinion teeth. Also if you need more batteries I would say buy from Maxamp.com they are better batteries than Thunder power and they are cheaper. They also have a higher MAH rating than Thunder Power.

Re: Voyager E

Thanks for the good info .

I have more than enough motor I think .
I already have the batteries ( Thunder Power ) 6000 Mah 3S3P .
I am using stock blades for now while I am learning but I am doing
pretty good .

Re: Voyager E

3812 rpm/v is similiar to the 3750 of the Hacker C40-8L. The 8L is one of the most popular motors used in the VE. Most people running that on a 3S will use either a 16 or 17 tooth pinion. Use a 16 for duration and a 17 for more aerobatic stuff. With either pinion your headspeed should be above 1700 all the time. You won't really hit the dreaded VE wobble till down around 1500. I set mine up wrong a few weeks back and had a HS of 1600 and it flew decently. I normally run somewhere in the 1800-1900 HS.

Dreaded VE wobble ??
Is there anything I should know before I set it up ?
Is that with the wood blades or Carbon .
I am being told that Carbon blades are worth the money
just becuase of how well balanced they are .
Can you comment on this ?

Thanks for the help

This is a well known phenomenon that happens with the VE. At low headspeeds the VE will go into a wobble. The lower the HS gets, the worse the wobble and eventually the heli will crash.

Yes, keep the headspeed up, with the above mentioned pinions recomendations you should not have any problems.

The wobble can happen with any blades as it has to do with HS and the dampening system in the head. I don't want to scare with this though. Like I said I set it up with a HS of 1600 and the only time I ever saw the wobble come was doing FFF into a wind with almost full collective. I am sure my HS had dropped off considerably. I normally run a HS of 1800-1900.

If you are fairly confident in your flying skills and are willing to spend the money on the carbons then yes, they are well worth it over the VE's wood blades. My VE is the other one in the picture section of this site. I also have my VE stretched and run the MAH463 blades. My set came with a perfectly matched CG and perfectly matched weight.

I have been flying my VE for some time and know it real well. When you get it and get around to setting it up, feel free to ask any questions you have of me.
