What Hirobo do I have?

Hello,

I'm new to the forums here, so hello all. And new to the whole heli thing. I've been running nitro rc cars for ever now and have just got my oldest boy into the whole rc thing. He wanted to get a helicopter, so we went to the local shop and came home with the e-flite cx2. Way to hard for him to fly now, but I love it. Something new besides cars.

The next week I was back at the hobby shop looking for a nitro heli. Luckly the shop salesmen talked me out of it. So I ended up coming home with the g3.5 sim. been flying on that for several weeks now. Still am far from flying a big heli.. (the next heli i will get is the blade cp) Then i went to a friends firends house and saw huge nitro heli on the shelf. I ask if the guy wanted to sale it. He said yes! SO i picked it up for 50.00$. It's really old i think but hasent been flown in several years. I figure if i have less than 500.00 into this whole thing and it goes down. Not as bad of a loss than a 1400.00 set up..

If i post some picutres of this heli could someone help me find out what it is so i could get some parts for it.. The only thing it has on the heli is HIROBO, and the motor has enya 49x on one side and the other has model 6010 made in japan. The remote control is a jr unlimited series mark viii h j128h. it has all jr servos and a kraft gyro system... If anyone could help me that would be great.

Sorry for the long post, and i hope this is in the correct section.. If no one knows, could someone please point me in a direction.

Thanks in advance for any help...

Re: What Hirobo do I have?

Post the pics....it sounds like a Hirobo Shuttle...they are still around but have been revised in design a bit.

Good move getting the Sim....get real good on that and the real thing wont be so hard.

Advice for the Hirobo...if the radio and stuff came with batterys and they are old...or no one knows what the history is then replace them...those batterys are the lifeblood of the radio system.

Oh...and if the Gyro is old...it might be a good idea to replace this too...the old type gyros eat battery power....whereas the new types are much more economic.

Re: What Hirobo do I have?

Ok here is some pic of what I have so far. I took this thing apart so thats why it is in some pieces. Please let me know what you all thing. If I can get this thing to fly I will be upgrading the radio system. I want to use the radio I'm goint to be using when I get my new heli. Other than the radio, I would like to get this thing into the air for under 500.00$. Do you all think this could happen? I expect to spend around 500.00 on my radio. Should that be enough to get something good. Or should I just scrap this heli and buy something off ebay or this site and start with something newer.. Please give me your feed back good or bad.. Thanks in advance for the help.. On with pic...

Re: What Hirobo do I have?

Sure looks like an early Shuttle....though not totally sure. The metal Frames sure look good....its a beaut.

If you have the money and are keen on the hobby, I would start out with something else...and save this model for when you can fly well...after setting up a new model and setting up the radio stuff you will have a better idea of what needs doing to this model.

I have an old Concept DX in my Loft, parts are no longer made for it...it was in a bad state when I got it...covered in oil and grime...I cleaned it but by bit...might reassemble it one day and turn it into a paperweight.

Re: What Hirobo do I have?

Thanks for the help on this!

Do you know where a good place to get parts for these old heli's? My local hobby shop can't get parts for Hirobo's.

Also If I want to spend around 500.00$ on a radio; what would you suggest?

I dont plan on using this untill I can fly somewhat good. But I would rather learn on this than go out and buy a new t-rex or something and crash that.

Re: What Hirobo do I have?

Sorry for so many post. But If I did want to start with something else other than this Hirobo, What would you suggest?

Something like the blade cp? This is what I was going to buy just cause that's what they sale at the local hobby shop. But I'm ready to buy something else this weekend. I'm also going to start buying the parts I need (if i can find them) for the Hirobo. Any other brands I should take a look at before I run out and buy the blade? Or any other types?
