thats one big advantage with the before mentioned setup....as you switch modes or idle ups the hovering position is the same....ie just above mid stick....or just below mid stick inverted.

It sure improved my helis handling.....though engine power can be an issue...my Hawk swings 550 mm blades with an OS 32 providing the power....could do with more power really.

It sure does hurt to smack a heli.....makes me want to cry....more expense

Hirobo Sceadu 30 or 50

Hi friends, I'm an electric heli pilot, and I need your advice. What's better for newbie, a 30 or 50 machine. Thinking in the future, when we like more of our machines?

Hiya Bud.

There are plus points to both machines. A 30 sized heli and engine is cheaper to buy initially, and the spare parts are cheap also. With a 50 sized heli, the initial outlay will be more for both the heli and engine, and because of this, the part are slightly more expensive.

Having said this, Most heli pilots will say that a 50 sized is better, as they tend to be a bit more stable due to the increase weight of the heli.

There is a way that you can start off with a 30 size heli, and then upgrade it later to a 50 size if you so wish. The Hirobo Sceadu Evo is a 30 and a 50 sized hei in one, and you can buy it as a 30 or 50. The only differences between the two are the engine mount, the way the control linkages are set up, and the gearing on the main and tail rotors. Also the main blades are 50mm longer on the 50, and are of fibreglass, not woodies. I am sure I have missed a few minor details, but these are the main ones. If you go for the 30, like I have, you have the option to buy an upgrade kit to convert it to a 50 size.With this kit, all you then need is the right sized engine.

Having said this about the Sceadu, I know that the Raptor 30 can also be upgraded to a 50 size, but I dont know if a kit is available for this purpose, as I have never owned one.

I'm sure you will have great fun, as a glow powered heli is so much more stable to fly than the small leccy ones, at least that is the case with me!!

Hi Rob.

I took your advice, and downloaded a PDF of the Mas Technique. Christ this guy is brilliant!! I have made a few changes to the pitch curves on the main blades, and it flies better than ever.

This doc should be required reading for anybody starting out in helis, no matter what type . Fantastic is the only word I can think of to describe it.

OH MY GOD _____ I tried a 30 and am ordering the 90 soooon. www.gohbee.com. These machines are raptors on streroids...and LESS expensive. I'm hooked!! Hey how do i change my name???? Stingercrazy maybe? What do ya think guys?

Oh and last week at the field my little "basic kit" Stinger had all the rappy boys droolin' over the stock upgrades!!!
