| advice from a newbie I am new to r/c heli's. Let me say that first. I just wanted to give my opinion, and I know there will be others who will disagree, but here goes. Don't buy the cheap fixed pitch heli. I bought a humblebee which is the same as a sabre, and I believe it's a humming bird knock off. I spent countless hours trying to learn to fly it and never succeeded. Many dollars on broken parts, and $200 down the drain. Now it sits in the corner in pieces. I will probably fix it later to fly on rainy days, but not worth the money. I just got an align TRex. I have had if for a couple of days now and it is worlds easier to learn on as long as you're patient! I took my time during the build and was fortunate enough that the local hobby store was willing to give me a lot of help and set up the radio for free! I know that this is disappointing for beginners because you will probably have to spend a lot more to get started the "right" way. Here's a break down in U.S dollars 1. TRex Kit- $180.00 2. Brushless motor and speed control- $100 3. Radio (at least) $250 4. Gyro (at least) $50 5. Li-Po Battery (2100mah) $80 6. Charger ($40) That's $700!!!!!!! a lot of money. The only things that I learned from the humblebee was that I really like heli's and wanted a better one. My suggestion is to buy a piece at a time until you have all the components. That's what I did and it took a while, but now I'm happy with my heli. Thank you for reading |

| Re: advice from a newbie I've never heard of that one, my advice is to start with a GWS Dragonfly. It's fixed pitch, but really cheap to repair. hard to fly though as all fixed pitch helis are, but cheap. You can move to a collective pitch heli later, as crashing a collective pitch heli is a LOT more expensive. |

| Re: advice from a newbie I would go with the Lama XRB Dual rotor electric indoor Heli (Wireless) it is made by Hirobo one of the leading makers of RC Heli's and a great company,I own a Hirobo Nitro Heli and love it.Venom is more a car builder where as Hirobo only builds Heli's and planes nothing else and have been in the heli buisness longer than Venom. The lama comes RTF and has it's own radio and cost $299 most places.Check it out here http://www.helihobby.com/html/hirobo_lama.html every one I know that has tried it says that it is the easy way to learn but it is strictly a indoor heli not for outdoors at all.GOOD LUCK Also the lama comes with LiPo batterys and a charger that is ok.It is the cheapest way I know to get started and to learn the blades are dirt cheap and it is very durable when crashed you can repair with some CA Glue or the rotors are really cheap if they break and it comes with extra rotors in the kit.Last edited by moe3754 : 07-17-2005 at 10:48 AM.
