| Gmp Cobra-parts Help Please! Hello, I Just Got Into Rc Flying. I Didn't Research Which Helicopter Would Be Best Before I Bought One. I Purchased A Gmp Cobra Off E-bay Cheap. I Was Wondering About Parts Because I Know It's Gonna Crash Or Break. Does Anyone Know Where To Get Parts Or If Other Parts Will Fit? Are Some Rotor Parts The Same? I'm Concerned I'll Break Something On Or Around The Swash Plate Or Tail Rotor And I Won't Even Bother With This Model If Parts Are Hard To Find. Any Help Or Advice Would Be Greatly Appreciated. Thank You So Much. |

I hate to reproduce original blades then I extended the boom using an original schluter helistar boom, now I can use standard 550 mm blades and it flyes GREAT. Never a 3d heli but it performs the basic repertory steady as a rock. I am using an original 45 OS FSR HELI engine that came in ths same bag with the rusted helicopter parts . The canopy was broken in three pieces but I was able to make a plug then I built beautiful original GMP COBRA composite canopy. The common cause of the side frames cracking was the metal landing gear struts then I replaced the whole landing gear by an X-CELL plastic tuff-struts. This amchine still is great, I'm sure Miniature Aircraft developed their line looking at the GMP cobra. Great clue is the engine cilynder head oriented towards the rear then ease of plug replacing and igniter connection. Oh! The cobra uses massive ball bearing blocks between the frames that only 60 size helis use to house 19 X 10 mm BB's.... and much more happy thanksgiving |

| Re: Gmp Cobra-parts Help Please! You have purchased a brand, GMP, ( Gorham Model Products) of helicopter that I learned on in the 80s. They have been out of business for years. Although you may find parts on the net, there are none in production anywhere that I know of. You will need many parts. Do yourself a favor, and buy a modern bird, now in production.

| Re: Gmp Cobra-parts Help Please! Hi: A better idea is to put that one up until you learn on something newer because of parts I have GMP crickets that I learn to fly on back in early 80s and now I make my own parts for them from main gears to tail booms. I love to get it out once and awhile and fly it just because but the newer ones have these beat and to know how to setup the heli right. I found myself learning and buying over and over until I found someone that would take his time to show me how. It cost me but now I can build and go fly without training gear or knee knocking experances. I know about buget because I'm disabled and the money isn't what it use to be. I have a cnc mill and lathe just before I got hurt so that helps me keep my wits. I've been in RC sense 1974 so I've seen this hobby grow. And I'd hate to see the GMP get crashed. |

| Re: Gmp Cobra-parts Help Please! I too learned to fly with a Cobra. GMP ws one of the better machines on the market at the time. You might compare the sizes of the parts you might need and see if Hirobo has it. The Cobra and Competitor were about 50 percent GMP and 50 percent Hirobo. |
