Re: Which simulator?

I have Real Flight G3 and it is pretty realistic but still don' think it is realistic enough on helicopters because I can do alot of stuff on it that I don't think I can do in real life with mine or maybe im just to scared because in real life I can't just press the red button lol. But I first wanted the reflex sim but I couldn't ever play it to see how realistic it was it looks better in graphics then any other I have seen but never got a chance to try it with a controller so can't say how real it is. I also started with FMS it isn't that realistic on helicopters at all. But it will help someone who never had anything if they use a controller with it for airplanes. I like G3 but still wish I could try out reflex.

Re: Which simulator?

Hey all,
I did the upgrade on the G3, it doesn't really have E-Flite's BCX or CP but the ones it does have are so close it doesn't make any difference.
Hanger 9's "FS One" has the E-flite BCX and CP.
Don't know how good the FSOne is, doesn't really matter, not going to pay another 200 dollars for another trainer, but that's just me. The G3 is good enough.
I know what you mean Shan, but that is like all video games too, I will do things on the game I would never do in real life, lol
But that isn't what I am looking for, All I want it to do is teach/help me remember where the controls are and what they do so that when I am flying the real thing I don't have to think about what to do. cuz I have learned enough to know that if you have to think about it...it is already too late, lol
As long as it teaches me to memorize the movements of the controls, w/o Real Life crashes, it's good enough for me.
Have fun and happy flights,

Blue

Re: Which simulator?

Man! I just downloaded the Reflex XTR demo. HOLY COW are the graphics on that INSANE or what! I was hopin to fly the demo with my realflight controller, but didn't work. I may have been able to get it to work, not sure but I think it looked great Looked at a couple of the demo flights and it looks pretty good. I think that it is a bit tougher to get configured and I can see where it is not quite as user friendly as the Realflight G3. Thats just my opinion, but it looks Hella nice to me. If you wanna check it out you have to go to Reflex's site and register, place a order and it gives you a site in which you can download the demo. If anyone has used that with their realflight controller, please post here what you did. I have a feeling it wouldn't work but I figured it was worth a shot. Prolly have to do something really simple. Oh well, I think that Simulator is awesome, graphicly that is, couldn't tell you about any of the characteristics of the flight and controls. Yet!

Thumbs up Re: Which simulator?

Well first off I have been flying off and on, on my Reflex for over a year. Got really frustrated all the time because I wasn't improving like I thought that I should. I was at my brothers place the other day and he sold his Reflex and bought a RF G3.5. He changed the "Physics" on the G3.5 to a lower number and everything slowed down. My reaction time now matched the heli that I was flying and I did better. So I came home and started changing numbers in the simulator parameter window. Changed the launch speed and the number directly below the launch speed and everything slowed down. I will be flying my T-Rex 450 this summer. Buy a Reflex I'm glad I did.

Re: Which simulator?

Ok I am looking at simulators. Seems like Great Planes is the best thing out there. One question I have do I want Mode 1 or Mode 2. Any information would be very helpful.

Thanks

I've always heard mode 2 is easier for helis - has throttle & rudder on the left and elevator & aileron on the right.

Re: Which simulator?

Hi I use Phoenix Sim and I think its great, I especially like the training lessons cos my last sim didnt have that function.
I was online the other evening with a friend of mine and we had a cool time flying together, after I got used to it that is Since the online part of the sim is beta there were a few glitches but all in all I enjoyed it.
