Re: Which gyro?

Is there an advantage for a beginner to have a heading lock gyro. Will it be easier to fly.

Pete

Re: Which gyro?

Heading Hold or lock will help you have a steady tail especially on side wind

Re: Which gyro?

Thanks I thought the gyro would keep my course steady if I try to fly cross wind, but I am not that advanced. I have a non heading hold gyro and wondered if a heading hold gyro wouldis likely to correct any little errors that I miss while I try to learn to hover inially in to wind

Re: Which gyro?

what's the difference between the old "Rate Gyros" and the new gyros on the market now, like Futaba's GY601 gyro? Usually when I ask,i get "they're just better...". Why? --besides the heading hold the feature.

Re: Which gyro?

the futaba 240 and 401 are both very good gyro's both have (heading lock) or (heading hold). i use the 240 on some of my heli's. the 240 is the lightest of the 2

i also have a CSM 200 gyro with HH and have had good luck with it. it's cheaper. but some have had problems with it . mine is not hooked to a servo. its hooked to a shultze 105He tail ESC to run tail motor.

Re: Which gyro?

Ok I know someone has already mentiond this gyro but I am a complete newbie building a century swift so I need as much info in as simple of terms as possible. Is the PG2000 IIR a good enough gyro to help withstand winds that never get more than 5-10 mph on a .30 sized electric?

Re: Which gyro?

the futaba 401 would be my choice - relatively easy to set up and holds the tail rock solid once corectly setup in HH mode

Hope this helps.....David
