Re: Which helicopter?

i've tried the honey bee cp2, i didnt own it, but i fancied it to be a bit too squirly, those that own and use these daily might disagree, but i've found co-axials to be your best bet to start with, a lama v3 is a fairly nice one by my standards, and for about $100 you can start simple

Re: Which helicopter?

Hello all. I'm new to the sport of heli flying.
My first heli, an EXCEED-RC (I never got to fly, really) crashed while trying to lift it off the ground.
I moved the trottle stick very gradually upwards, the blades were spinning but the heli did not lift until I got abou 2/3 up, then all of a sudden it took off like lightening, made a left turn and crashed before I could collect myself.
I now have an E-sky BELT-CP that I'm a little scared to fly until I know what went wrong with the first.
I'll be very grateful if anyone could list the possible causes of that crash.
thanks in advance.

Re: Which helicopter?

BE very carfull with the belt cp as it is a responsive heli. Your first crash was probably caused by the gyro/tail setup. If the setup isn't near perfect the heli will rotate on liftoff and if your not experianced it will get away from you. I received some good advise to just make small hops until you know that the tail will hold.

Unhappy Re: Which helicopter?

Thanks Cedric, but there was no wind.

Thanks BABY HUEY, the crash didn't happen with the belt-CP,(I'm afraid to fly it as yet) but I'll heed your advice on the responsiveness of the Heli.

This happened with my first Heli, an EXCEED-RC 50H03 Heli, an electric collective pitch heli.
I turned on the machine, started the blades spinning, but not too much. I then tested the controls. As I did so I watched the heli turn left then right, leaned to the left then right, leaned forward then back.
I then decided to lift it off gradually from the ground, so I inched the stick forward very gradually. The blades begun spinning faster as I did this, but the heli stayed on the ground until I got about 2/3 of the travel on the stick. All of a sudden the heli took off like a rocket, only a little faster. Before I was able to respond sensibly, it veered left and crashed.
I was wondering if maybe the CP was malfunctioning or maybe I didn't set the trim properly.
