Re: Which helicopter?

Turco, thanks for the info and the link. I am definatly interested in a radio that can perform up to a mile. So, I do have a question about the radio's....that is, do you know of a good 6 or 7 channel radio you can touch for under $100? Or, If I were to buy say, the receiver you on the link you posted and bought a cheaper radio to get me by for now, would that still get a range of around a mile or does it just take a quality tx & rx to get that kind of range? Thanks again for the info!

Re: Which helicopter?

Hey,
Im looking to getting into the hobby and was wondering if you guys could help me out. PM me back or reply if you could.

My current status is that i have a couple of freeware simulators (FMS and Clear View), a gamepad (that i cant get to work right with it) and a keyboard (that works correclty with it).

I dont have a heli and have no clue what to look for...
I do know that I want it to be electric and for it to basically be something for me to learn on as well as a heli that will entertain me even as I get better.

Do you think you peoples could tell me if im on the right track with sims, as well as help me find a heli that would keep me busy even as I advance?

If you could help that would be great!
K Thx Bye!

Re: Which helicopter?

Hey i am all new to this as well!!! But fly fixed wing aircraft in the real world which probably means nothing!!!

I live in Australia and am looking to buy one from ebay i have a few options could you please advise me what would be best! Also what is (ransmitter with 3D conversion, mode lock switch and pitch adjusting knobs (PIT and PLT)) mean? the 22E has it does the Esky honey bee cp2 have it?

Esky Honey Bee CP2 6 Ch Remote Control Helicopter:

I like the honey bee but what are the differance in that and the 22E Walkera/Dragonfly 6 Ch Remote Control Helicopter RC?

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....MEWA:IT&ih=013

The others are more expenisive but i would still like to look at them would it be worth buying somthing expensive now or wait until i learn on the above to helicopters?

New Walkera 36# 6 CH Radio Control Helicopter ---RFT

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....MEWA:IT&ih=016

60 Walkera/Dragonfly CCPM 7 Ch RC Helicopter Metal Body

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....MEWA:IT&ih=013

Thats pretty much it! is there maybe a website that compares the above helicopters? i would like to buy a 6ch or 7ch helicopter so i can learn to do tricks with it!

Thanks any help!

Andrew

Re: Which helicopter?

Well put. I can't believe how cheaply made the Walkera helicopters I've seen appear to be. You will never convince me that a newbie could EVER unbox any of their models, charge the batteries and get any close to getting it off the ground and back on the ground in one piece.

I can't imagine how many people have purchased one or more of these machines and after a day or two of frustration just given up ever flying an r/c helicopter.

I built and flew my first r/c helicopter in 1990 or so. It was from Hirobo and it was the Competitor model as I recall. It took me weeks to get it flying. I quite flying it after one particularly serious crash. I decided to get back into it by going for one of the newer electric models. Bummer. I have now gone through five, yes FIVE, "rtf" machines and have accumlated less than one minute of actual flying time.

I wonder if perhaps some of the earlier models of the Walkera line weren't better built and equipped than the current offerings?

It's definetely not a hobby for the faint of heart!

Re: Which helicopter?

Well, another new person to the hobby. I have been racing onroad and offroad cars for a couple of years and decided to try some other rc applications as well.
Anyways I purchased Real Fight G3 (and then a video card). I practiced on it for about a week, then got a Blade cp pro. Well the first flight was not very good. I fumbled through a circle then flipped it forgetting to toggle the idle up, and crashed. I cannot say I like the cp pro that well, compared to some of the heli's on g3 it is too responsive. I got the first expansion pack and flew the ion x and loved it, while the mx 400 was alot like flying my cp. So I am in the market for an electric heli that flies like the ion x. Is the t-rex overly responsive as well, or do I need to fork out the cash for the ion-x. Basically I want a something I can see 500ft away, 3d capable and a smooth flight. And I want to stay with electric.

Re: Which helicopter?

Hi:

I am new to this and have never flown an RC Helicopter. What model would you recommend to a newbie. What features should I look for? Coaxial rotor? 3 channel or 4 channel?

Thanks.
