| help please Hi i am a complete newbie to helicopters having recently aquired a kyosho concept 30 sx that had been stored and the servo leads gnawed by rodents, i have replaced the5 servos but now have no cluse as to where they go in the reciever i will try to give all the systems info that i can transmitter is jr apex 5h set up throttle on left hand side reciever is hi tec rcd 3500 it has 7 slots and one for battery futaba fp-g154 rate gyro- this has 4 leads one to reciever one to tail servo one to switch and one to the gyro but i have absolutly no idea where or what nos in the reciever to put which servo as have no manuals etc ands have only limited experience of radio control on airplanes i have got the engine running etc any help would be greatly appreciated colin |

| Hi Colin, Ok The battery plug is already marked it is then this order for the rest of the servos. Channel 1 = Aileron servo, Channel 2= Elevator servo, Channel 3= Throttle Servo, Channel 4= Gyro/Rudder Servo, Channel 5= Gyro sensitivity, Channel 6= Pitch. Hope this is of use to you. | oh i dont have enough plugs thank you for your reply i dont seem to have enough plugs to do all that i have 5 servos 4 of which are to be plugged into the reciever that one to throttle the 3 others are connected to the rotor head, the servo connected to the tail is connected to to the rate gyro box which in turn has 3 other connections of it one to a switch one to the gyro and one that has to plug into the reciever,the rate gyro box has a gain dial on it to so am not sure if i have something missing regards colin |

| Hi Colin, I dont know if this will help you but does this look like the gyro you have? If so I hoe this clears a few things up for you, I dont know anything about this gyro but the picture should help if it is the same configuration as yours. Hope this helps, As far as I can tell if you connect everything as mentioned above but use the picture as a guide then you should be ok. but check it all works before trying to fly it. From what I can tell from the other pictures I have managed to find of your gyro. the wire that comes out of the gain housing with the thick black wire is the one that your rudder/Tail sevo plugs into, The wire that comes out the side with the switch is the wire that goes to channel 4 in the receiver. I cant be sure about this, I think that the switch is to reverse the direction of the gyro/servo,(Please try and get this confirmed) and the black box is the gyro itself. You should Have all the channels you need with the receiver you have to cope.

| many thanks hi thank you for your replys yes the picture you sent are the ones of my gyro set up, the switch just turns the gyro on and off as there is a reverse switch built into the gain box next to the gain dial so i presume that i only haveto plug in channel 4 (gyro)and channel 5 will then be pitch as i only have the 5 plugs from servos/gyro many thanks for your help it is greatly appreciated regards colin |

| Gyro controls I have listed below the basic controls of a heading lock gyro: 1. Switches . 1.1 DS - Digital switch . - Turn this on if you are using a digital servo . otherwise turn it off if you are using a standard . servo or else you will burn your servo. . 1.2 DIR - To change the direction of the rudder during . setup. 2. Potentiometers . 2.1 Limit - To adjust the full travel of your rudder servo. . Take note that we do not use the Automatic . Travel Adjust in the radio to limit the maximum . travel of the servo. The ATV is used to adjust . the response of your tail when you move your . rudder stick. Increasing the ATV gives you more . tail authority (faster) and decreasing will make . it slower. If your linkages binds, use the limit . potentiometer in the gyro to adjust the servo . travel. . 2.2 Delay - If you are using a digital servo, set the delay . to zero, otherwise if you are using a standard . servo, adjust the delay to your liking. Note: If your gyro has a remote gain function, then you can adjust the gain from your radio. If your gyro does not have a remote gain function, then there will be another potentiometer in the gyro to manually adjust the gain of the gyro before you take off. Moreover if your gyro has a heading lock feature, calibrate your tail first by disabling heading lock. Hover your heli and see if the tail rotates. If it rotates, land your heli and adjust the length of the rudder control rod. Do this until you can hover your heli withour rudder correction. Once your tail is calibrated, land your heli and switch your gyro to heading lock. You can now enjoy doing hard manuevers and your gyro will take care of your rudder. Remember the trim of the rudder in the radio must always be at the center at any time. Never move it to the left or to the right. If you do don't center your rudder trim, your tail will always be drifting no matter how you calibrate it. I hope this will help. Cheers, Carlou ![]() |

| Hi Colin channel Five5 is not the pitch channel for your heli channel Six6 is, Channel five is used for remote gain for heli's or Landing gear on aircraft, It is also used for Right flap for gliders. Your Pitch channel is 6 please use the standard in the first answer for setting your servos.
