Question new problem

Okay so i have spent a while and many batteries learning the controls. Now that i want to take off, i get it about 3-4 inches in the air and then my heli looks like it wants to enter a hula hoop thingie dance. okay, i have balanced the blades, made sure the paddles were as close to +5 degrees as i could and every thing! Now why is this happening?! please help!!! i have a dragonfly v4 (yes, cheapo , the $98 one) (actually named the walkera). Is it because i am useing a cheap model to learn on or what?

If anyone wants i'll take and upload a video of what i am talking about

Hi ?

Please don't feel silly when you read this it is a mistake that is easily made.

The paddles should be level (Horrizontal) not at 5 degrees. This is most very definatly your problem. If you level the paddles and make sure they are both level with each other and the flybar (thats the bar the paddles are fitted too). Your problem will go away.

But i have read EVERYWHERE that you should set it to +5 degrees to make it more stable in hover flight...? i am lost which is it? level or +5? i will try the level one here in a lil while and post how it went. I fly it in my spare room since it's a micro...

Trust me the paddles on any heli need to be level. the 5 degrees pitch only comes into affect at hover for the main blades of a collective pitch heli and this is for the main blades only as a guide to what the pitch is at hover.

All heli's with paddles should have them Level (horizontal) Who ever advised you that they should be at 5degrees I'm affraid was winding you up.

Darren.

OKay, i think i might have found the reason, the paddles didn't seem to do much, i think they lessen the problem but one of my servos is freaking out. it's havin' some kind of anurism, no matter what plug i put it in, it just keeps twitching. I tried putting the other servo in the servo thats freaking out's plug, and it just sat there. Do i maybe need a new servo?

Talking A little bit of guts

alrighty, well with the help of the paddles being parallel and some luck and balls, i got the heli up in the air about 3 times today on its one charge! But!!! of course like any noob, i did a cut throttle on the 1st time it took off when i got scared because it kept climbing well needless to say that broke the skids, but no problem patched them up with some electrical tape and now i am good to go . I think i just needed the balls to get it outa ground effect... i was reading up ALOT about helo's being skiddish when in ground effect, and the main way i saw everyone telling everyone to solve it was to just "don't be affraid to give it the kick it needs to get it up!" So i followed this advise and now i can say i have had my 1st few actuall flights!!! But i still get that darn hula hoop wanna be dance every once and a while... still can't figure out where from, might be that servo thats freaking out like it is... why is it doing that...???

Have you opened the servo and checked to see if any of the solder points have come loose. maybe the wire on the servo cable is touching the solder point in the servo case but moveing due to vibration and then causeing the servo to glitch.

Just a thought

Thumbs up Wiggle

First check the servo,Then check your main blades and make sure there not to tight to where they can't straightin out.
