Century Spirit CX V 2.4G strange rotor problem Hi everybody, A proud Newbie to the hobby here. I'm having a problem and if someone recognises or can help I'd be very grateful. At the weekend I purchased a Century Spirit CX (Newbie!) http://www.centuryuk.com/Products/Re...copters/Spirit The heli is a twin motor contra-rotating RTF. Mechanically, like the Blade CX 2. My idea; to start on this as an initial indoor trainer before moving on to outside work. OK here's the problem. I go thru' the arming routine - controller on; throttle stick and trim fully back. LED flashing, connect battery on Heli - solid LED achieved. servos tested and working. Fully charged battery. Throttle upwards gently; about 30% of applied power the top motor/rotor powers down and idles to stop. Flight attempt ends. (Note: Have achieved one short flight atop double bed. Model drifting towards pillow so throttled down from 12" vertical. Blades touched on landing Everything soft; no damage at all. Non event - inserted for completeness) Whats happening? Can anyone explain. Anyone had the same sort of problem? Would appreciate any insight Sorry to be opening with a question - I hope tp be contributing more posively as things progress. Rgds

Re: Century Spirit CX V 2.4G strange rotor problem Try holding the heli in one hand...by its skids and apply power and see what happens...if the heli starts to twist to one side all the time...ie the one rotor working then it could be a gyro issue...it might need reversing in its 'sense' could be a tiny switch you have to flip. Basically the heli uses the two rotors to turn or yaw...one rotor slows a little and the other one has the higher torque...heli turns the opposite way...and vice versa. you can check this function by holding its skids and applying power...and twisting the heli to simulate an uncommanded yaw, either rotor will speed up to compensate. If its not any of the above then it could be down to a speed controller thats duff...the gyro and controllers are all within that little plastic box...and probably unfixable...unless you take it apart and check for a loose connection...check the motors wiring as well. Once its up and running make a hoop...make it out of plastic tubing and form a circle about the same as the rotors width...fasten using bits of cane..kebab skewer or something with elastic bands to form a nice training base...helps stop your pride and joy falling over during those first flights/missions ![]() Rob

Re: Century Spirit CX V 2.4G strange rotor problem hawkman. Many thks for reply. Sorry for delay pc went down soon after posting. I will take all yr advices on board and have a go. I have also noticed slight 'stripping' on gear which could be part of it. The 'bumps' I've had so far have been no more than mild contacts but there you are mild stripping seems to have occurred even then. Plastic gears for hispeed gearing? Actually, I dont mind having a prob as this is exactly how one learns the fastest- the whole point of the purchase - and Boy have I been learning! Thks anyway 'H'..

Re: Century Spirit CX V 2.4G strange rotor problem Make that hoop ![]() Having breakages and so on is all part and parcel of RC helis, you were wise to start with the heli you have...the controls all act the same way on the radio...you get good with this heli you have and it will stand you in good stead for something more advanced...thats if you want to go that far. Golden advice...take it or leave it LOL...stay away from any model with fixed pitch and a tail rotor motor...they are crap...if you want to go that route then get something like a Belt CP or a Blade 400. I have a TRex 450 which is total dynamite to fly...very good quality...and handles a breeze well. Rob
