What/where to buy as gift I'm looking to buy a r/c helicopter as a gift for my father. I have no idea where to start. My price range is about $150-200. He would want to fly it outdoors. Can anyone give me some advice about what to buy and where to buy it? I'm in Ontario, Canada. I don't mind buying online, but want to make sure I'm buying through a reputable supplier. Thanks!

Re: What/where to buy as gift I dont know about suppliers as such, I use places based in the UK. For that price range I would buy a CX2, its not really an outdoors heli unless its flat calm. Quite a few makers have helis that are within the price range which look the part but in reality are rubbish. The CX2 is the pick of the bunch. A smaller heli, tiny!, is the Picco Z; its a gimmick for sure but will provide many hours of fun...you can them as a pair...each with thier own controller...the idea being that you can 'shoot' each other down. You can also tease pet cats though they might try to catch and chew it up.Rob

Re: What/where to buy as gift Thanks so much! I've actually found a local shop after some digging, so I'll see if they have either of those - and I think he intends to chase the dogs with it ![]()

Re: What/where to buy as gift If they don't have the cx2 (highly recommend), then they should have an Esky Lama. Not as good as cx2, but a good entry level heli anyway. I don't recommend an "outdoor" heli as a beginner heli.

Re: What/where to buy as gift Hm, if you don't recommend an outdoor one, I'm not sure what to do. There wouldn't be anywhere for him to fly it indoors.

Re: What/where to buy as gift The reason is because they are hard to learn on. You can tame them down, but still hard. Also, an RTF for under $200 is gonna be hard to find. A Blade 400 is RTF for about $389. It'll fly outdoors, and probably the best heli for the price. Still will be a big learning curve though. I started out with a micro heli ($29), then CX2, now I just got a Trex. I was gonna get a B400, but the trex deal was really good. I fly my cx2 in a 12x16 room. I take it outside on the rare days there is no breeze of any kind.
