AXE CP Electric Helicopter/battery placement?

First let me say that I amd very new to the RC helicopter world. On my heleicopter the battery goes in the front of the helicopter under the cover. Well everytime I have to change out the battery that requires me to take the cover off and I know it is a matter of time that I break the cover. DOes anyone see a problem with putting the batter in the back of the bird? I would have to cut the battery cord extending it so that it can reach to the back. That way I would have to take the cover off all of the time. Is there a balance issue?
