Re: Tail rotor isnt working

Hi Drew

It is a start... and its a good place to start as well. At least you dont fork out $1000 on a thing that you cant fly and it costs you $600 in parts before youve even hopped lol.

When you connect up the flight battery of the heli you should always do it in a sequence, like a pre flight checklist...

1. Model on ground
2. Transmitter on.
3. Throttle zero
4. Flight battery connected.
5. DO NOT MOVE OR TOUCH MODEL until flashing red light has gone solid green.
6. Gently throttle up.

If you always follow the same sequence, then it reduces the chance of human error.... Remember, disturbing the model while its arming (flashing red light) will upset the gyro calibration and your get the problem you discribe here.

If you do follow a sequence like the above then you could have a faulty 4 in 1 unit

Take care... Azzy

Re: Tail rotor isnt working

Hi, I do follow those rules, I guess i moved it while initilizing maybe,

I realized that its still some what off when I'm in the air always turns to the left and i always have to adjust it. I have my tail rotor adjustment set to quarter way towards right on the controller because of it. Now here is a tricky question, The cable going to the tail rotor is slightly damaged, would that damage cause the motor to spin less. I'm not so smart when it comes to cables amps power and so on. I'll take a pic of it when i can today.

Here's what happened to the cable, it was touching the main gear for the main rotor, and the surrounding protection on the cable got scrapped off a bit(small amount of the cable it self too.) I got the cable taped and its working find its just not fast enough, lead me to think it not transferring all the amps.

I know your going say replace it but I'm already past my budget on spare parts. I am planning to replace the heli when i brake all my spear parts.

Thanks for the response. Your the MAN, hehe.

Re: Tail rotor isnt working

Hi dood

It could be that the tail isnt getting enough juice but I would be surprised. If you can live with it then dont change it. Otherwise your local electroncs shop should be able to sell you cable to do the job for a few cents. If its a slow turn to the left but you can pull it back to straight by putting in right, then Id say it sounds like there isnt much wrong... try some right rudder trim. Also these 4 in 1 controllers dont really hold the tail well because the changing battery voltage as you fly... starts of high and reduces through the flight, it changes the gyro calibratation as it flys. My Bell 47 starts by turning right then as the battery goes flat turns left.... There isnt anything that can be done about it either.

When you get your next bird, make sure its got a belt drive tail. It will cost you more but it will be worth it.

Take care... Azzy
