Main Rotor Blades

I'm a newbie on the RC Heli's. Have a Dragonfly and now have the e-Flite Blade CP+. Crashed the Blade a couple of weeks ago when the radio fell over on hood of truck kicking back the right toggle and the heli thought it was a tree trimmer. Replaced the main rotor blades but have a question on them. Are the bottom of the blades supposed to be level with the ground or at angles?
Also, what is a good electric heli in a larger size and what size? Due to residency location, can only use an electric heli during the winter months but probably could get away with a Gasser, NOT Nitro, during the rest of the year when the old snowbirds fly back north. Don't feel like driving over 100 miles to the nearest RC park just for some relaxation. Of course it helps that there is a new nu***t park being built next door to keep me in the area.

The answer to your question depends on where the pitch control on the radio is when you are asking the question .

Let me first start by saying that the ground isnt a good reference to set blades against. You should always check blades against the flybar (the bar that holds the stubby blades or paddles). The reason you dont use the ground is because the flybar can pivot and because the main blades are attached to it, the pitch is changed in line with that. Therefore you should put the flybar level with the ground and check the blades to the flybar.... Make sense?

Angle of the blades to the ground and flybar (pitch) will change depending on where the throttle stick is positioned... If the stick is at bottom Id expect the trailing edge of the blade to be slightly skyward in a beginners model. (probably less than you can see so it will look level). If the stick is in the middle, Id expect the blades to be level with the FLYBAR (zero pitch). When the stick is full up, Id expect to be able to see the trailing edge pointing downward towards the ground.

If your going to check and adjust blade pitches, I would strongly suggest buying a pitch guage because you just wont be able to see the pitch otherwise.
