| Looking for a nice RTF package. Hello, Im thinking about getting into RC helis and I want a solid RTF kit that has everything for around $100-200. I just want something that will be good for a beginner and that I can use to get used to flying. So if you guys could link me to good RTF kits then that would be awesome. Im likeing this one http://www.helihobby.com/html/dragonfly_helicopter.html Is it a good one? Thanks! Also, what odes fixed pitch mean? |

| Re: Looking for a nice RTF package. I wouldnt bother with that one. I would get a Blade CX2...they are much more stable and you will get a lot more fun out of it. The trouble with the one you are looking at is the tail rotor/motor affair...they are prone to burning out and tail control is not that good. Fixed pitch helis of this type will fly...but are very floaty and no where near as good as a collective pitch heli. Differences: Fixed pitch...the blades are a set angle and rely on the RPM to go up or down. Collective pitch...the blades alter their angle and the RPM is more constant too...much better response and will cope with a breeze too. I would get the CX2...its co axial and fixed pitch so its quite basic but the controls on the box do replicate the 'real' rc heli controls...for a fixed pitch heli its quite stable and will get you going in this hobby. If you ever go for a more 'normal' looking heli then make sure its Collective pitch...and the tail rotor is shaft or belt driven off the main gear/cog. The Blade 400 could be a good choice. The Belt CP is another good one from reports on it....the other one could be the Falcon 3D...not a bad package...flies quite good. Whatever you get make SURE that spare parts are plentiful and cheap...you will crash at some stage so you need to have peace of mind about parts. I would bet the CX2 would be the best buy for the money you mentioned. Rob |
