WOW! Just WOW!

Having completed the build, set up the electrics and gotten everything as perfect as I think I can, I've begun live testing on the 450SA. (My previous experience is with a Hummingbird V4 FP machine.)

All I can say is HOLY C%&*!!!!! Not off the ground yet, testing blade tracking and balance - keeping it low and slow, but man, the power compared to the little toy I was flying is incredible. I can't imagine a 90 - this thing demands enough respect as it is...

One issue I have is that the training wheels for my Hummingbird are nowhere near adequate for this beast. I'm not aware that Align makes any training gear for the T-Rex. Who does?

Thanks,

Re: WOW! Just WOW!

They do supply training gear in some package deals.

I still maintain the hoop idea, just make it out of plastic tubing...the semi rigid stuff. Make it the same size as the rotor diameter and you should be good to go.

Just measure the rotor span...and times this by 3.142 (the pi thing) and this will give you the length of tubing. I would use the thin bamboo sticks that are used for kebabs...fasten these to the skids using elastic and then position the hoop where you want it...then lash the sticks to the hoop. You will get a great training base which shouldnt affect performance at all...the stick and ball things are ok but can cause a vibe problem in some cases.

Yeah, the 90 sized helis are awsome...the gasser I have is 90 sized but not quite the same in performance...still keeps me happy though.

Good luck with the Rex, they are good helis. Be aware of anthing working loose though. I was flying mine (450 XL) when the capstan for the tail belt came off...poor heli did loads of piros before I hit the power hold and autoed down...landing was a bit hard...broke one or two items

Re: WOW! Just WOW!

I went to the shops and brought some 8mm dowel and some foam balls i brought the dowel out as far as the main rotors seams to work great on a raptor 30

Re: WOW! Just WOW!

Hello,
It's quite an experiance firing up one of these for the first time! I use aluminum rods crossed under the heli and on top of the skids. These have saved me many of times. They are light and will bend in a crash which absorbs alot of energy and will save you parts.I make them from aluminum welding rods and attach them with rubber bands.
Good flying!
