| new to the hobby. tricky question. ok. got a blade cx2 off of ebay. got aluminum parts from the swash up. i'm really new to this and have most of the general concepts down...but it's doin a couple things i can't seem to fix. first, the tail kinda does a "shudder/wobble/shimmy" type thing occasionally. second, i can't hover just right. it'll come up and level, then kinda start actin funny. i've tried trimmin it out, but it seems to want to spiral down and clockwise. like i said, completely new to this, so if there is something obvious that you think i might have covered, go ahead and say it, cause i might not have. this is my first electric R/C, first heli (aside from the air hogs havoc heli. got pretty good with that little guy. ) and i'm just kinda lookin to figure some stuff out. i watch the DVD that came with it and RTFM . doesn't say anything about it.also, the guy before me had some white blades, i think they are for some kinda esky lama or something? but they move in the blade grips. like they pivot. is that just so they don't break as easy when i **** at flying? are they ok to use, or should i put the others back on? thanks. sorry for the long post, just wanna get this beast in the air.....and control it! |

| Re: new to the hobby. tricky question. The CX2 should be quite stable in the air, if it seems to move about a lot then the flybar connection to the top rotor might need adjusting...try removing the clip thing and screwing it half a turn out or in...decide which...go hover and if its worse you need to adjust the opposite way...the top rotor does the stabilising...the lower one does the directional control...which you probably realise. Not sure about the tail wobble...it could be either of the rotors at fault...hover about and 'sight' the blade tips...if there appears to be two tips for the top rotor say...then the 'tracking' is out...as its fixed pitch you might need to twist a blade...but which one? well...you can colour the blade tips...or just colour one with orange or some other bright colour...go hover and you should be able to see which is riding high...its better to bring the high blade down...or twist it down...on a collective pitch model you would adjust the blades pitch rod. Another thing is power, the battery is still pretty good? low RPM can cause all sorts of issues. Make SURE to land when the heli starts to run low on power...DONT try flying it till it cant move...LiPo batterys can get nasty if treated badly...but will last a long time if treated well. Dont fly too much...land every now and then and let the motors cool...they are not high performance but its not a rocketship heli either...its designed for the masses who want an RC heli for little money...and it does a good job..I know because I own a clone of the CX2. Have fun with it...I like them. Rob |

| Re: new to the hobby. tricky question. awesome. thanks for the replies. did some inspectin of my chopper. figured the blade were supposed to move. so i'm ok on that. but i think i figured out the tail wobble. could it be from teeth missing on my main shaft gears, both inner and outer? |

| Re: new to the hobby. tricky question. I read somewhere, where they said that tail wobble comes from the gyro. The gyro might need adjusting. |

| Re: new to the hobby. tricky question. Hi There, Main shaft gears missing teeth?. Yep, that would cause problems lol. Every time the blades rotate there will be a slippage so they will change speed then speed up again. Change any gears with missing teeth . Also you should get into the habit of regularly checking your bird. It might not matter hugely now but if you get in to flying big helis like 30+ size nitros it could save you some serious trouble and money.Take care... Azzy

| Re: new to the hobby. tricky question. yeah. that's what i was doin when i found it. and i replaced them awhile ago and from what i can tell the tail wobble is gone.still fighting some toilet bowl effect tho. but only sometimes. probably just need to get it trimmed out right. my boss at work, he's a cool guy, has one and he said i could come over and he'd help me out. just haven't made it over yet. how big of an area do you need to fly one of these things? i'm thinkin some of it might be rotor wash....dunno if that affects these little buggers or not. cause i'm kinda in a bit of a confined space. not like a CLOSET...but a room with low ceilings and stuff in it. |

| Re: new to the hobby. tricky question. Hi Again, The "toilet bowl effect" lamo is caused by the pilot overcontrolling a contra rotating bird like the CX. As you get better at flying the effect will diminish until it doesnt happen. As far as space goes, when your learning the more space you have the better but I fly mine in my lounge and it isnt big by any stretch of the imagination say 18ft x 12ft. But if you fly near a wall, they do get affected by their own rotor wash. Take care... Azzy ![]()
