Brushless Motors

Hi all,
I'm trying to gain a greater understanding of brushless motors.

I have an Align 3550Kv motor on a Trex 450. My understanding of that means that it spins 3,550 rpm's per volt applied correct?

I'm ultimately trying to calculate my headspeed without using a tach on accounta I don't have one yet. Given the answer to the question, I can calculate unloaded head rpm from the gear ratio.

Can anyone say roughly (with 325mm woodies), by what percentage the rpm's would be reduced?

Re: Brushless Motors

Hi uneverno
Your right KV = rpm per volt applied. There are several calculators on line that help you figure your head speed and choose witch pinion to use. Hears a link to the one that I have been using.

This site also has lots of good information that you may find helpful.
