| I received an ESky Belt CP today. Electric, 6 channel with the esky radio that came with it. Has or had a 25A brushless ESC and motor. Pro gyro. I have never flown ANYTHING before. I did lots of research of the different helo's out there and chose the Belt CP because I could not find anyone with bad words about it. OK so here is what happened. While charging the battery, I was looking at the helo. Very cool indeed. I was following the manual that came with it. It says to unplug the 3 wires going to the motor, so I did and then turned on the radio and plugged in the battery. The servos all moved and the red light became steady on the gyro. I moved the controls and everything looked good to me. Next I took it outside with the intension of just turning it on and see if it was going to go straight or spin maddly out of control. No intensions of getting it off the ground today at all. After the red light again became steady, I turned on the Idle switch - the blades turned and then there was FIRE from the ESC!!! So now that is gone and so is the top main gear. I have no idea what I did wrong, and certainly don't want to do that again. Any ideas? Also this is an ESKY 6 channel radio. The book is not really clear on what to do. It says turn on the radio first, but says nothing about the Gyro switch, not sure which way is off and nothing about the idle switch. Both of these are on the top left hand side of the radio. I checked on the pilot locator and sent an email off, but it bounced saying the name is unknown. ![]() Thanks for your thoughts and be gentle with this new guy please. //Bill |

| Re: Fire first thing! Not sure why the ESC fried, unless the unit was defective or you reconnected the motor wires incorrectly. You shouldn't mess with the Idle switch. Idle Up is for inverted flight, so for normal operation the switch should be off (toggled away from you). As for the gyro switch, if you have the stock E-Sky gyro the switch does nothing at all. It is used with the upgrade head-lock gyro.

| Re: Fire first thing! Thank you for the reply. I know I had the wires correct because they are color coded! OK leave the idle switch alone - check (no inverted flight for a long time). The Gyro switch is on the radio right below the idle switch. There is also a Normal and Reverse (I think it was reverse) on the Gyro itself. This says it is an Esky Professional gyro. What do you think happend to the gear? Most of the cogs are just plain gone! This is the gear that is in contact with the motor gear. When I first looked at it, it was just fine. What are the PIT and PLT mode lock switches for? The manual id's them but gives no clue for what they do. Thanks again - I really do appreciate all the help I can get! //Bill ![]() |

| Re: Fire first thing! Hi Bill Welcome to the forum. When you hit the idle up switch you probably striped the teeth of the main gear. When in idle up your motor will run at around 90 to 100 percent at all times regardless of throttle position. That could be the reason that your ESC fried also. It went from a dead stop to full power and chewed the main gear up until there was no more resistance then overloaded the ESC . The PIT & PLT are kind of like Throttle and Pitch curve adjustments on some other low end TX's. I don't know anything about the Esky TX but its probably the same.

| Re: Fire first thing! Thanks - Oh that would explain a lot then. Well how come the "Manual" doesn't explain this stuff?!!! So if I was going to go inverted, flying around I would flip that switch to give full power? Doesn't matter for now though - don't plan on doing that! Thanks again - that was helpful. //Bill |

| Re: Fire first thing! Since I have not heard from "thex___project" place where I bought this, how hard would it be to replace the main gear? If I would have to take that top part with all the "Wiggley Things" (I'll get the language right one of these days) then I don't think I'm ready to tackle that. If it is just a couple of screws and pull the shaft up, I can do that! Looks like the motor has to come out too. Thoughts? And thanks again - it is nice when people talk to the new kid! //Bill |

| Re: Fire first thing! Hi Bill, sounds like you have been shortchanged...feel sorry for you. Its a bit stupid of the producer of this heli to not label things properly. My Trex ESC makes warning beeps if the throttle is not in the right position on connecting the battery. My radio also warns if the idle up or throttle hold are engaged on switching on...why the cheaper radios dont do this I dont know. Dont be put off...sounds like you are not...welcome to the hobby and this site. There will be times when you make mistakes for sure, we can only learn as we go along. Rob |
