Re: electric

Hi Gster,

Welcome to the forum

I would say that it would be better to post questions about a prospective purchase to here as I think more ppl read this one than electric... Just my opinion though.

Take care... Azzy

Lightbulb Re: electric

in that case, here we go. i did tell my wife i would like to try my hand with rc helicopters. she went to radio shack and brought home this sick little thing called a mosquito or something. kind of pricey so i went on line.

i found this by Esky http://www.readytoflyfun.com/esco4ch.html. i might as well jump right into the fire as they say.

if i am making a bad choice please be kind to me

Re: electric

Yes esky makes some good helis but if you like a more non vetnam style You should take a look at the lama V4 or V3 they are basically the same but with some differeneces ( minor ones) they have the coaxile and double blades so they are easy to fly ( you would still have to take your time and learn) Thats what i have. ( picture of it in my avatar) However if you are very serious about getting into this hobby you will want to get a good sim. best way to learn! Most people will sugest (Real flight, phoniex, and i forget the otehr one) but most people will recomment the blade cx or cx2 or the lama v3 v4 the blades are bit pricey and the lama and blade are basically the same thing

here are some links Check them out

Lama V4

Lama v3

Blade cx2
http://www.rcuniverse.com/magazine/a...article_id=824

there you go as for the sims just check ebay and if these links get deleted just google theses things. Hope this helped( but im just a newbie But i know some stuff.)

Re: electric

Having a coaxial helo means you don't have to have a rotor. It uses the 2 different sets of blades to balance and control spin. The Comanche you linked doesn't have a rotor either. The rotor in the picture is just a part of the body and is for looks.

Re: electric

Hi there,

Happy new year to one and all

DSenart is right, the tail rotor is for looks. A co-axial heli such as the lama v4 or the blade CX or the Bell 47 Twister does not need a tail rotor... If there is one there, its for decoration to make it look like a lama or a Bell 47... on the lama and bell, they freewheel like the propeller blades on a model aeroplane, so moving through the air, they can sometimes look like they are doing something. When you are faced with a truly needed tail rotor, you'll find that there is normally a 5 to 1 step up in speed (compared to the main rotor) so they are almost invisible.

Co-Axials can yaw and pirouette (spin) no problem though by slowing or speeding up one of the motors against the other.

Hope this helps... Azzy
